Oracle RDBMS Support: Indicates platforms where the Oracle RDBMS product may not be commercially available but theOpenEdge DataServer can be installed to provide client/server access to remote Oracle RDBMS instances. For operatingsystems that support 32-bit and 64-bit applications, Oracle 11g, Oracle 10g and Oracle 9i release 2 are only available as a64- bit product. The 32-bit based OpenEdge DataServer for Oracle is able to access a 64-bit Oracle Database instance via32-bit Oracle Client software.D. OpenEdge & Sonic: OpenEdge and Sonic compatibility is documented at the following page on Progress ocs/DOC-21988E. File System Support (NFS, iSCSI, CIFS & Encrypted File Systems): No matter which operating system you prefer, thereare numerous choices for file systems available, each with different performance characteristics and limitations. In general, Progress Software does not support or certify specific filesystems for use as OpenEdge RDBMS storage.Filesystems are part of an operating system, just as device drivers are, and are supported by their respective operatingsystem suppliers. If there are bugs or defects, Progress cannot correct them - the operating system supplier is responsiblefor that. The OpenEdge RDBMS works well with most filesystems as long as the operating system's file access API is properlyimplemented and the filesystem's options are properly configured and the supplier's patches have been applied.Only in very rare instances has Progress Software certified filesystems or other storage products for use as OpenEdgeRDBMS storage. These were done on an exception basis, usually in cooperation with the respective vendors, and include:Network File System (NFS), which is supported starting with NFS Version 3; NetApp Filers; EMC SRDF; amd iSCSI,which is supported beginning with the OpenEdge 10.1A release. For leveraging UNIX/Linux/Windows Encrypted File Systems, OpenEdge products have no restrictions provided theencryption technology is truly transparent to the Operating System. No formal certification of Encrypted File SystemTechnology is planned. The EFS technology transparently allows files to be stored encrypted on NTFS file systems.F.Software support policy for Windows Tablet XP 2005: The Microsoft Windows XP Tablet 2005 operating system is asuperset of the Windows XP Professional operating system; applications that are compatible with Windows XPProfessional also run on Windows XP Tablet 2005 Edition. Progress Software does not guarantee support for WindowsTablet XP 2005 features that are not part of the Windows XP Professional operating system and any issues found withthese Tablet XP features relating to Progress Software products, will need to be proven against the Windows XPProfessional operating system before contacting Progress technical support. For more details on Windows Tablet XP 2005features, support and compatibility please refer to the following on-line Microsoft .aspx?scid kb;en-us;327160G. Application Virtualization software support and certification policies:Application Virtualization Software such as CitrixMetaframe, Citrix Presentation Server, HOBLink, VMware, and MS Windows Terminal Server are products that providean abstraction layer that decouples the physical hardware from the „guest‟ operating system to deliver greater IT resourceutilization and flexibility. Progress OpenEdge provides full support with Application Software environments. The versionsnoted on the list below are minimum versions and indicate support for the entire “family” of releases within the version. Forexample, support for “Citrix XenApp 6.0” extends to all Version 6.x releases of XenApp and is not limited specifically toVersion 6.0. With this in mind, here are the supported vendors and versions of virtualization technologies: Citrix MetaFrame XPeOpenEdge 10 Platform & Product Availability Guide8

H. SCO OpenServer 6 certification and support: SCO OpenServer 6 certification is dependant on the platforms ability tonatively support UnixWare 7.1.x applications. OpenEdge 10 support for OpenServer 6 is achieved via the UnixWare 7.1.4OpenEdge product offering (Media ID 191). Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Microsoft SQL Server 2008, and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (MSS-2005, MSS-2008, andMSS-2008 R2): Certification of the OpenEdge 10 DataServer product relies on specific ODBC Drivers. The followingtable details the necessary ODBC Drivers for MSS-2005, MSS-2008, and MSS-2008 R2 support. ODBC driver versionsmentioned in the table are the ones used during certification testing. All other driver versions with the same vendor, DLLname and driver name are also supported. All OpenEdge-supported Windows platforms are supported.OpenEdge 10 Platform & Product Availability Guide10

Datetime data types enhance theDataServer‟s ability to store and manipulate date and time data and to accurately manage data that spans time zones.L. ABL access to Web Services: The ability for the ABL to access Web Services is not currently available on SCO UnixWare.Support for Linux 64-Bit and Linux PowerPC starts with 10.2A.M. N. Progress Explorer fails to start on the Windows Server 2008 and Windows 2008 R2 platform– If you want to run ProgressExplorer you need to run it on a different operation system like XP, Vista or 2003. SEE PRIMUS ENTRY: P129948OrIn 10.2B OpenEdge Explorer is now bundled into OpenEdge, which is supported on OpenEdge operating systems except forSCO UnixWare. However, with 10.2A, OpenEdge Explorer can be downloaded from the Progress Deployment Componentsweb site for customers who have licenses for products that entitle them to Progress Explorer.O. Windows 64-bit platform does not include support for the OpenEdge Personal RDBMS. It is possible to install the 32-bitOpenEdge product for Windows on a 64-bit Windows machine to get a Personal RDBMS.P.For all the SuSE 11 certifications both 32-Bit and 64-Bit, the ODBC drivers do not work on SuSE Enterprise Server 11.To resolve the c lib issue, install the following compat dHat/RPMS/compat-libstdc -7.3-2.96.118.i386.rpmUse the following command line to install:rpm -Uvh compat-libstdc -7.3-2.96.118.i386.rpmQ.The following table details the certified drivers for IBM iSeries access:DatabaseCompanyDriverVersionDriverBitsDLL Name10.1A10.1B10.1C10.2A0210.2BiSeries Access stributed by IBMiSeries Access NativeDriverIBM11.64.00.0064CWBODBC.DLL------ --Distributed by IBMOpenEdge 10.2B ODBCWire Protocol Driver LXDistributed
