It does mean that we will work withyou to help you expand your knowledge, learn new skills, and complete your program of study.If you find yourself struggling, let us know if you need assistance as soon as possible. Our Center for Academic Engagement is ready to helpwith tutoring and other support services to assist you.Outside of the classroom, we can help you overcome obstacles. The College will send official messages to students atthe address provided and expects students to review their GTCC email accounts regularly and to respond asappropriate.Academic RegulationsThis section contains information about completion of academic programs and academic standing.Academic Integrity PolicyGuilford Technical Community College (GTCC) is an academic community with its fundamental purpose being thepursuit of learning and student development. Consistent with this purpose and in order to uphold and supportstandards of personal honesty and integrity for all members of the college community, it is the policy of GTCC toenforce standards for academic integrity of our programs and courses. Conduct that violates standards of academichonesty and integrity is subject to academic disciplinary action. This conduct includes cheating, fabrication andfalsification, plagiarism, abuse of academic materials, and complicity in academic dishonesty. Any student whoviolates these standards is subject to academic sanctions.Academic Integrity ProcedureIntroduction:It is the expectation of the college that students maintain absolute integrity and high standards of individual honor intheir academic work. Violations of this policy will result in sanctions as determined by the primary investigator forthe case. Academic conduct records are part of a student’s master record and will be kept on file in the Office ofStudent Services.Definitions:a. Cheating – the use or attempted use of unauthorized materials, information, notes, study aids, or other devices inany academic exercise. This includes the unauthorized communication of information during an academic exerciseb. Fabrication and Falsification – Fabrication is inventing or counterfeiting information for use in any academicexercise. Falsification is altering academic information.d. Abuse of academic materials - Destroying, stealing, or preventing access to books, equipment, or any otherinstitutional instructional resources. Misuse of online learning resources may fall under this category. Atinstructional personnel’s discretion it may also be investigated under a different academic integrity category orreferred to the Community Standards director for investigation under the Student Code of Conduct.e. Complicity in academic dishonesty – aiding or attempting to help another person in her or his own academicdishonestyInitial Response and Documentation:a. Instructional personnel noticing infractions of the standards of academic integrity, or receiving reports of suchbehavior, are usually responsible for investigating the matter and determining outcomes accordingly. Noninstructional personnel noticing academic integrity infractions should report them to the relevant instructionalpersonnel or to the Community Standards Office.
