He is the 29th head coach in program history. Waddle, a 2003 graduateof Wittenberg University, spent eight seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater,including the last seven as the defensive coordinator prior to coming to Marietta. TheTigers won four North Coast Athletic Conference championships and made four trips tothe NCAA tournament during Waddle’s time at Wittenberg. Waddle was named the OACCoach of the Year in 2017 after leading the Pioneers’ to their first winning season since2006. Waddle’s career record is 23-39 in his six-plus seasons as Marietta’s head coach.Heidelberg is coached by Scott Donaldson, who is in his fourth season at the helm of theStudent Prince football program. Donaldson, a 2003 graduate of SUNY Brockport, is currently 21-13 at Heidelberg. Donaldson is no stranger to Heidelberg football having served12 seasons as an assistant before taking over as head coach. He was the HU defensivecoordinator for five seasons and was named the OAC Assistant Coach of the Year in2012. As a player, Donaldson was an outside linebacker and helped the Eagles to threeNCAA Division III playoff appearances.ALL-TIME SERIES: Saturday marks the 57th time that Marietta will face Heidelberg onthe gridiron Heidelberg currently leads the series, 34-22. The series began in 1917 withthe Pioneers winning by a final score of 3-0. The two schools have played annually since1978, with the teams meeting twice in the regular season in 1979. Following a 9-gameHeidelberg winning streak in the series, Marietta has won the last two meetings including a38-34 win in Tiffin last year.LAST MEETING: October 6, 2018 at Tiffin.
