The students had a great time celebratingseven years of learning and reflecting on the manyhighlights during this time. Thank you to the students,Mr Baikie, the teachers and especially Miss Salvagiofor organising this great night.Staffing NewsIn the last newsletter, I mentioned that we are losing MsWard and Miss Lodewijks at the end of the year. Sadly,we will also be saying farewell to Mrs Kissane who, after 6years of being an integral part of the Yates Avenue staff,has been appointed Assistant Principal at CondobolinPublic School. Mrs Kissane, Ms Ward and Miss Lodewijkswill be sorely missed at our school and we wish them allthe best for the future!Last Day - 2018Today will be the last day of school for students andteachers. The staff undertook additional professionallearning after school during the course of the year, as analternative to the two designated days at the end of Term4.First Day – 2019On Wednesday, 30th January 2019, students in Years 1-6will arrive at school and assemble in the morning withtheir 2018 class teachers. When enrolment numbers arefinalised, students will then move into their 2019 classes.Kindergarten students will start on Monday, 4th February.And Finally .2018 has been a wonderful year for Yates Avenue PublicSchool. Commencing our new vision for excellence andequity in teaching, learning and wellbeing, we have seenstrong achievements for students across the school many of which were recognised at last week’sPresentation Day assembly. I would like to thank all of ourtalented and dedicated teaching and support staff for theirtremendous work this year, shaping our students as thelearners and citizens of tomorrow. On behalf of all thestaff, I wish every student and family, a safe and happyChristmas. thWednesday, 19 December 2018Issue 21 – Term 4, Week 10END-OF-YEAR CELEBRATIONSP&C REPORTThis year has been a very successful year for theYates Ave P&C Association. Its success has comefrom the generous support of the many parents andfriends of this community. From the Tears andTissues at the start of the year to the variousCanteen Special Days, the P&C committee hasworked hard to raise funds to support the school.Thank you to the many mums who worked togetherto make this year’s Mother’s Day Stall a wonderfulsuccess. The P&C committee has continued toensure the smooth running of the uniform shop.Bronwyn Grout and Jackie Alevras have also beenintegral in updating the sports shirt as well as otherimprovements. Thank you to Jae Park for runningthe many Canteen Special Days throughout theyear. A special thank you must go to Justen Nixon,former President, who successfully applied for theCommunity Building Partnership Grant which willsee the school receive 83,200 for undercoverwalkways to be built early next year. We also havepartnered with Subway Carlingford to providehealthy lunches every Friday which will continue in2019.Sadly every year we have to say goodbye to anumber of families from within the schoolcommunity. Some of these have been activemembers of the P & C and will be missed. Thankyou to Alison White, Nicole Bain, Larissa Halliday,Mrs Kim, Mrs Ro and Tracey Watkins for yoursupport and time given to the school over the years.For our final donation for the year, we havecontributed 3000 to go towards a data projector forthe school hall. From all of us on the P&CCommittee, we wish you and your families a veryhappy holidays over the well-earned break. Pleaseconsider volunteering with us in 2019. Yourcontributions and input would continue to supportthe students of our wonderful school.The P and C Annual General Meeting will be at7pm on Monday, 25th February.
