Riflescope AdjustmentsUsing the Reticle for Bullet Drop CompensationStandard BDC TechniqueMost rifles will work well zeroed in at 50 yards using the centercrosshair. Consult the riflescope owner’s manual for sight-intechniques. Using the Reticle for Bullet Drop CompensationPrecision BDC TechniqueIf you wish to get the very best accuracy from the AR-BDC reticleor work with loads and zeros other than those listed here, you cancustom match the exact ballistics of your particular load to thedrop hashmarks of the reticle using ballistic programs such asVortex’s LRBC (Long Range Ballistics Calculator).Visit vortexoptics.com for the VortexLong Range Ballistics Calculator.The basic technique is to input your load data and environmentalconditions into the LRBC program and then generate a dropchart. Select MOAs for the drop display, and choose 10-YardRange Increments. Look for MOA drops on the chart that areclose as possible to the MOA drops shown on the reticle imagebelow. Then, simply cross reference the listed yardage numbers—save these yardages for field reference and use.Using the Reticle for Range EstimationThe AR-BDC reticle can be used to quickly estimate ranges whenviewing objects of known dimensions of either 9” or 18”. Refer to the BDC 600 section of “Guide to using the BDC Reticle”. 3. Instructions (1) Focusing 1 Look through the eyepiece with your eye positioned about 4 in (10 cm) away from the eyepiece to see either the BDC Carbine reticle (Fig. 3-1), or the
reticle (Fig. 3-2), or the BDC reticle (Fig. 3-3). Be sure your eye is positioned within proper alignment and proper eye relief otherwise the view will “black out.” Point the objective end of the scope at the sky (Do not point at the sun) or at a plain unpatterned wall. Loosen the lock ring.
Aim the Eliminator LaserScope in a safe direction toward the sky or a light colored wall. Glance through the scope and notice if the reticle is sharply focused. Most users will find that no adjustment is necessary. If the reticle is not in sharp focus, rotate the eyepiece focus ring until the reticle appears in sharp focus.
