MESSAGE FROM THE CEO2014 was a banner year for The Community Foundation of San Joaquin. We both raised and gave away more fundsthan ever before! And that means we were able to provide crucially needed resources to a variety of charitableorganizations located throughout the region so that we can make the Northern San Joaquin Valley a safe, desirableand fulfilling place to live, work and play.CEO & PresidentThere were many accomplishments during 2014: Funds increased – we added 22 new funds for a total of 80 funds under managementGrants increased – we contributed 1,103,775 to local, regional and national nonprofit charitiesAssets increased – at the end of 2014, we had 6,700,000 in assetsStaff added – we welcomed Melissa Flores as our new executive assistantFourth Annual Community Philanthropy Summit – close to 300 attendees heard author and consultant Kay SprinkelGrace and other expert speakers at this local conference on philanthropy co-hosted with the Lodi CommunityFoundation Seventh Annual Super Bowl Raffle – we set a record by raising 424,000 for 30 local charities thanks to the generosityof the Alex and Faye Spanos Family and ticket buyers everywhere! Stockton Fund for Animals Event – once again, the Spanos Family and Companies stepped to the plate by hosting amagnificently fun “Cool Cats and Barking Dogs” benefit for the Stockton Animal Shelter which generated more than 150,000 to help improve conditions and outcomesLinda PhilippSTAFFControllerThe 2015 Officers include: Board Chair Duane Isetti (Stockton) who is assisted by Vice Chair Cynthia Souza (Tracy),Secretary Dr. Ted Leland (Stockton), Treasurer Robert Kavanaugh (Stockton), and Past President Teresa Mandella(Stockton). We are truly blessed with directors who work year round to help promote and fulfill the mission of theCommunity Foundation of San Joaquin.Julie MintonAnd just what is that mission? In large part, it’s “Sustainability.” That is the one word that can strike fear into the heartsof many nonprofit leaders. “Will we be able to make budget this year?” “What will we do if we don’t get that grant? Willwe have to reduce our services or close programs altogether?” “How can we raise the funds required to serve all of thosewho need our help?” These are the tough questions and issues that nonprofit executives and board members deal withdaily. And it’s precisely the place that CFOSJ can help. We’re here to help donors make the most of their giving and, simultaneously, help nonprofit agencies build bridges toward sustainability. BUILD. BENEFIT. BELIEVE. It’s why weexist and what we do. So, how may we help you?Executive AssistantLinda PhilippCEO and PresidentMelissa FloresB O A R D O FF IC E RS & DIR E C TO RSChairpersonVice ChairpersonSecretaryTreasurerPast ChairmanVice PresidentDuane IsettiCynthia SouzaTed LelandRobert KavanaughTeresa MandellaLinda GuinnScott Beattie2Kevin HawesCharles Patmon IIIColleen StewartDavid Vaccarezza
