Last time out, Ohio State and Bowling Greenbattled to a 1-1 double overtime draw Tuesdaynight in Columbus. Maisonneuve was associate head coach atIndiana University, guiding the team to the 2012NCAA national title. He was a member of theColumbus Crew from 1996-2004. The Buckeyes have had nine members maketheir OSU debuts this season. Ohio State hashad a different backline start in four of the fivematches. Ohio State returns six starters from the2017 squad and welcomes seven newcomers.The Buckeyes lost seven letterwinners andfive starters from the team that finished 8-10-1overall and 3-5 in conference play. The Buckeyes were picked tied for sixthwith Penn State in the Big Ten preseason pollannounced last week. Indiana was picked asthe preseason favorite followed by MichiganState, Maryland, Michigan and Wisconsin. Senior Brady Blackwell, redshirt junior ParkerSiegfried and sophomore Will Hirschman werenamed to the Big Ten preseason honors list. 2018 OHIO STATE MEN’S SOCCERA NEW ERA OF OSU MEN’S SOCCERHead coach Brian Maisonneuve is in hisfirst year as head coach of the Buckeyes.Maisonneuve comes from Indiana Universitywhere he was associate head coach for theHoosiers. As one of the top assistants in thecountry, Maisonneuve guided Indiana to the2012 NCAA national title, a NCAA runner-upfinish in 2017, the 2010 Big Ten regular seasontitle as well as the 2013 Big Ten tournamentchampionship. Maisonneuve, a native ofWarren, Mich., was one of the top players inIndiana soccer history, winning the HermannTrophy in 1994. He spent nine seasons withthe Columbus Crew from 1996-2004 andwas a member of the United States’ 1998World Cup team. Maisonneuve is assistedby associate head coach Sergio Gonzalez,assistant coach Matt Foldesy and director ofoperations Chad Barson.LAST TIME OUTOhio State tied Bowling Green in doubleovertime, 1-1, last Tuesday in Columbus. In 2016, he wasnamed one of the Top 12 assistants in the nation forthe third straight year and fifth time in his career.Since 2010, the Hoosiers have had 21 players namedfirst team All-Big Ten and 50 student-athletes earn BigTen honors. IU players also have earned nine conference player of the year accolades. The Hoosiers alsohave excelled in the classroom, compiling 102 Academic All-Big Ten honors.Maisonneuve, a native of Warren, Mich., is one of thetop players in Indiana soccer history. Playing alongside Todd Yeagley, under legendary coach JerryYeagley, he earned All-America honors as a juniorand senior and was named the Hermann Trophy winner in 1994. A two-time Big Ten Player of the Year,Maisonneuve finished his career with 44 goals and22 assists and led Indiana to a pair of NCAA CollegeCup appearances and back-to-back Big Ten regularseason titles. During his four years at Indiana theHoosiers were 73-15-7. He also was a four-time AllBig Ten selection and three-time Academic All-Big Tenselection. Maisonneuve earned his bachelor’s degreefrom Indiana.“The City of Columbus has always been like a secondhome for Diania and me.
