National Symbols of SingaporeTHE NATIONAL FLAGThe National Flag consists of two equal horizontal sections, red above white. A whitecrescent moon occupies the upper left red section. Next to the moon are five whitestars arranged in a circle. Each feature of the Flag bears a unique symbolic meaning.Red stands for universal brotherhood and equality of man. Our Traffic Management PlanPURPOSEThe Traffic Management Plan (TMP) aims to provide a safe school environment forstudents, staff and visitors. Hence the school has adopted measures to ensure safetyto pedestrians and motorists when they enter the school, and are within the school.OPERATING HOURS OF SCHOOL GATES1. The school ground is open from 0600 hrs to 1830 hrs from Mondays to Fridays,and from 0700 hrs to 1400 hrs on Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays and PublicHolidays. Only staff and students, and visitors on official business are allowed toenter the school compound and use its facilities. As the Indoor Sports Hall (ISH)is shared with the public under the Dual Usage Scheme, the opening hours ofthese facilities on weekends are stipulated by the Singapore Sports Council.2. The school’s Administration Office is open from 0630 hrs to 1830 hrs daily, excepton public Holidays, Saturdays and Sundays.3. Our Traffic Management PlanPOLICIES FORCOMPOUNDVEHICLESENTERINGANDEXITINGSCHOOL1. Parents and motorists driving into the school to drop off and fetch passengersare to do so at the designated drop-off point along the driveway at the Foyer.Passengers should alight from the left side of the vehicles.2. Motorists must NOT exceed the speed limit of 15km/h when driving within theschool compound.3. Only vehicles with the School Decal, and vehicles of authorised visitors (e.g.,MOE personnel, SAC members or PSG members) are allowed to park at the staffparking lots. No parking is allowed along the driveway at the Foyer at all times.4. Visitors are to park at the designated Visitors’ parking lots within the schoolcompound.5. Delivery vehicles are to park at the designated delivery bay only.6. All vehicles entering the school compound shall follow the instructions given bythe Security Guards and/or school personnel.7. Drivers shall not sound their car horn unnecessarily.POLICIES FOR PEDESTRIANS ENTERING AND EXITING SCHOOLCOMPOUND1. Pedestrians must use the walkways to enter and exit the school.2. When crossing roads within the school, pedestrians must use the zebracrossings located along the roads in the school (e.g., front driveway).3. Students are not allowed to take shortcuts and walk across the staff carpark ordriveway when moving between classroom blocks. They are to access the schoolconcourse area in order to move safely between classroom blocks.4. Visitors entering and leaving the school compound on foot are to do so only atGate B and H depending on the operating hours of the gates (refer to tableabove).5. Visitors are to obtain a Visitors’ Pass at the Security Post before they are allowedto enter the school. They are to return the Visitors’ Pass at the Security Postwhen they leave the school compound.6. Visitors are to display the Visitors’ Pass at all times when they are in the schoolcompound.18

Our Traffic Management PlanPOLICIES FOR CYCLISTS AND PMD USERS ENTERING AND EXITINGSCHOOL COMPOUND1. Students cycling to school are to dismount and push their bicycles or LTAcompliant personal mobility devices (PMDs) to the school’s Bicycle Parking Baywhen they are inside the school compound. Cycling within the schoolcompound is strictly prohibited. PMDs refer to devices such as .2. Students are to secure their bicycles or LTA-compliant PMDs properly at theBicycle Parking Bay and NOT anywhere else in the school.3. Parking of bicycles and PMDs at the parking bay is at the user’s risk. The schoolshall not be responsible if the bicycles or PMDs are lost or damaged in any way.4. Before students are allowed to cycle, and park their bicycles and PMDs in school,they must submit the Advisory Note on Cycling to School with their parents’acknowledgement to the School OM for approval. The school shall reserve theright to remove any unauthorised bicycles or PMDs without priornotification.19

Emergency Evacuation1.On hearing the fire alarm, students and staff should stay put and wait forannouncement by the Principal, who will direct the students and staff to respondaccordingly.2.If the announcement is made to evacuate the school building, all students andstaff, and others are to leave the school building immediately as directed in theEvacuation Plan placed in every classroom and proceed to the prescribedassembly area (e.g. school field).3.Students are to take their valuables and line up in two rows outside the lessonvenues. All other belongings should be left behind. All lights and fans must beswitched off before leaving the classroom / special rooms.4.Teachers teaching the classes during the emergency are responsible forevacuating the classes and leading their students to ground floor of the schoolbuilding. Class Chairpersons will then lead students to the assembly area. In theabsence of a teacher, the Class Chairperson should take charge of evacuating theclass.5.Persons with Disabilities (PWD) will be accompanied by their buddies, and willwait at the ‘PWD Holding Point’ for teachers to render assistance before movingthem to a safe area.6.In the event of congestion along the staircases, students on the lower floors areto give way to those coming from the upper floors.7.At the assembly area (e.g. school field), students are to line up at the designatedlocations for their classes.8.Once at the assembly area, attendance will be taken immediately. A search partywill be activated to conduct a search should any student or staff be unaccountedfor.20

Emergency Evacuation9.In the event of an evacuation that requires staff and students to leave the schoolcompound, students will walk in an orderly manner to the External Holding Area(EHA) at Riverside Primary School. They will be marshalled by teachers and staff.Students should take note of safety when crossing the road, and look out foron-coming vehicles at all times.10.No one is allowed to enter the school building until the ‘All Clear’ announcementis made.21
