NASAL MASKThank you for choosing the Mirage FX. Please read the entire manual beforeuse.Intended useThe Mirage FX channels airflow noninvasively to a patient from a continuouspositive airway pressure (CPAP) or bilevel device.The Mirage FX is: to be used by patients ( 66 lb/30 kg) for whom positive airway pressurehas been prescribed intended for single-patient re-use in the home environment andmultipatient re-use in the hospital/institutional environment.Clinical benefitsThe clinical benefit of vented masks is the provision of effective therapydelivery from a therapy device to the patient.Intended patient population/medicalconditionsObstructive pulmonary diseases (eg, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease),restrictive pulmonary diseases (eg, diseases of the lung parenchyma, diseasesof the chest wall, neuromuscular diseases), central respiratory regulationdiseases, obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and obesity hypoventilationsyndrome (OHS).WARNING The mask contains safety features, eg, exhaust vent and valve, toenable normal breathing and exhaust exhaled breath. Occlusion of theexhaust vent or valve needs to be prevented to avoid having anadverse effect on the safety and quality of the therapy. Regularlyinspect the vent and valve to ensure it is kept clean, clear of blockagesand is not damaged. This mask should only be used with CPAP or bilevel devicesrecommended by a physician or respiratory therapist. The mask should not be used unless the device is turned on. Explanation: CPAP and bilevel devices are intended to be usedwith special masks (or connectors) which have vent holes to allowcontinuous flow of air out of the mask. When the device is turned onand functioning properly, new air from the device flushes the exhaledair out through the mask vent holes. However, when the device is notoperating, insufficient fresh air will be provided through the mask,and the exhaled air may be rebreathed.Rebreathing of exhaled airfor longer than several minutes can, in some circumstances, lead tosuffocation. This applies to most models of CPAP or bilevel devices. Follow all precautions when using supplemental oxygen. Oxygen flow must be turned off when the CPAP or bilevel device isnot operating, so that unused oxygen does not accumulate within thedevice enclosure and create a risk of fire. Oxygen supports combustion. Oxygen must not be used whilesmoking or in the presence of an open flame. Only use oxygen in wellventilated rooms. Remove all packaging before using the mask.Note: For any serious incidents that occur in relation to this device, theseshould be reported to ResMed and the competent authority in your country.Using your maskWhen using your mask with ResMed CPAP or bilevel devices that have masksetting options, refer to the Technical specifications section in this user guidefor mask setting options.For a full list of compatible devices for this mask, see the Mask/DeviceCompatibility List on www.resmed.com/downloads/masks. The fitting illustrations section in this user guide show the sequence forobtaining the best fit and comfort when using your mask.Fitting stepsPrior to fitting your mask, remove the elbow from the mask by pressing theside tabs. Connect the elbow to your device air tubing.1.With both lower headgear straps released, hold the mask againstyour face and pull the headgear over your head.2.Bringing the lower straps below your ears, loop the headgear intothe lower hooks on the mask frame.3.Unfasten the Velcro , pull the upper headgear straps evenly untilthey are comfortable and reattach the Velcro. Do not overtighten.4.Repeat step 3 with the lower headgear straps.5.Attach the combined elbow assembly and air tubing to the mask bypressing the side-tabs and pushing into mask frame.6.Your mask and headgear should be positioned as shown. Ensurethe headgear label is facing outwards.Removing the maskRefer to the removal illustrations section in this user guide. To remove yourmask, disconnect one of the lower headgear hooks and pull the mask andheadgear up over your head.DisassemblyRefer to the disassembly illustrations in this user guide.Disassembly steps1.Unhook the upper headgear straps from the mask frame, there isno need to undo the Velcro.2.Remove the combined elbow assembly and air tubing from themask by pressing the side-tabs and pulling away from the maskframe. ReassemblyRefer to the reassembly illustrations in this user guide.Reassembly steps1.Ensure the cushion is oriented correctly by aligning the top cushiontab with the recess in the top of the mask.2.Gently pull the cushion through the front of the mask frame untilthe cushion locks securely into the mask frame. The tabs on eitherside of the cushion should be sitting against the mask frame.Ensure the cushion is not twisted or distorted.3.Attach the top headgear straps to the mask frame by looping ontoeach of the upper headgear hooks.4.Replace the elbow assembly into the air tubing and attach thecombined elbow assembly and air tubing to the mask by pressingthe side-tabs and pushing into the mask.Cleaning your mask in the homeYour mask and headgear should only be gently handwashed.Daily/After each use: Disassemble the mask components according to the disassemblyinstructions. Thoroughly clean the separated mask components (excluding headgear),by gently rubbing in warm (approximately 86 F/30 C) water using mildsoap. To optimise the mask seal, facial oils should be removed from the cushionafter use. Use a soft bristle brush to clean the vent. Inspect each component and if required, repeat washing until visuallyclean. Rinse all components well with drinking quality water and allow to air dryout of direct sunlight. When all components are dry, reassemble according to the reassemblyinstructions.Weekly: Handwash the headgear.4
Do not use aromatic-based solutions or scented oils (eg, eucalyptus oressential oils), bleach, alcohol or products that smell strongly (eg, citrus)to clean any of the mask components. Residual vapours from thesesolutions can be inhaled if not rinsed thoroughly. They may also damagethe mask.CAUTIONIf any visible deterioration of a system component is apparent (cracking,crazing, tears etc), or, if after cleaning, any component remains unclean,the component should be discarded and replaced.Reprocessing the mask between patientsThis mask should be reprocessed when used between patients. Cleaning,disinfection and sterilisation instructions are available from the ResMedwebsite, www.resmed.com/downloads/masks. Discontinue using this mask if you have ANY adverse reaction tothe use of the mask, and consult your physician or sleep therapist. Using a mask may cause tooth, gum or jaw soreness or aggravate anexisting dental condition. If symptoms occur, consult your physicianor dentist. As with all masks, some rebreathing may occur at low CPAPpressures. Refer to your CPAP or bilevel device manual for details on settingsand operational information.6

As thismask system and its components are modular in nature,it is recommended that the user maintain and inspect iton a regular basis, and replace the mask system or anycomponents if deemed necessary or according to the‘Caution’ in the ‘Cleaning your mask in the home’ sectionof this guide. Använd bara masken när apparaten är påkopplad. Se till att apparatenblåser ut luft när masken är tillpassad.Förklaring: CPAP- och bilevelapparater är avsedda att användasmed speciella masker (eller kopplingsdon) som är försedda medventilöppningar som möjliggör ett kontinuerligt luftflöde ut frånmasken. När apparaten är påkopplad och fungerar ordentligtkommer ny luft från apparaten att driva bort redan utandad luftgenom maskens ventilöppningar. När apparaten däremot inte drivskommer en otillräcklig mängd ny luft att tillföras genom masken ochden utandade luften kan komma att andas in på nytt. Återinandningav utandad luft under längre tid än ett par minuter kan under vissaomständigheter leda till kvävning. Detta är fallet med de flesta CPAPeller bilevelapparater. Följ alla säkerhetsföreskrifter om du använder extra syrgas. Syrgasflödet måste stängas av när CPAP- eller bilevelapparaten inte äri drift, så att oanvänd syrgas inte ansamlas inne i apparaten vilket kanutgöra en brandrisk. Syrgas påskyndar förbränning. Tillpassningssteg1.Lösgör båda de nedre remmarna på huvudbandet och hållmasken mot ansiktet. Dra huvudbandet över huvudet.2.För de nedre remmarna under öronen och trä huvudbandet in ide nedre hakarna på maskstommen.3.Öppna Velcro fliken och dra åt de övre remmarna lika mycketpå varje sida tills de sitter bekvämt och fäst sedan fliken på nytt.Dra inte åt för hårt.4.Upprepa steg 3 med huvudbandets nedre remmar.5.Tryck på sidoflikarna ock skjut över och sätt fast denkombinerade knärörsmonteringen/luftslangen vidmaskstommen.6.Masken och huvudbandet bör sitta som visas på illustrationen.Se till att etiketten på huvudbandet är utåtvänd.Ta bort maskenSe borttagningsillustrationerna i bruksanvisningen. MonteringSe monteringsillustrationerna i bruksanvisningen.Monteringssteg1.Rikta in fliken överst på mjukdelen med fördjupningen överst påmasken så att mjukdelen sitter korrekt.2.Dra försiktigt mjukdelen genom framsidan på maskstommentills mjukdelen sitter stadigt och korrekt. Flikarna på mjukdelensbåda sidor bör sitta mot maskstommen. Se till att mjukdeleninte är vriden eller sitter snett.3.Sätt fast huvudbandets övre remmar vid maskstommen genomatt trä dem genom de övre hakarna på huvudbandet.4.Sätt tillbaka knärörsmonteringen vid luftslangen. Tryck påsidoflikarna och skjut över och sätt sedan fast den kombineradeknärörsmonteringen/luftslangen på masken.Rengöra masken i hemmetMasken och huvudbandet bör endast handtvättas försiktigt.Dagligen/Efter varje användning: Ta isär maskkomponenterna enligt demonteringsanvisningarna. Rengör de separerade maskkomponenterna ordentligt (med undantag förhuvudbandet) genom att gnugga dem försiktigt i varmt (c:a 30 C) vattenoch en mild tvål. Ta bort ansiktsoljor från mjukdelen efter användningen för optimalmaskförsegling. Använd en mjuk borste för att rengöra ventilen. Inspektera varje komponent och rengör på nytt vid behov tills du ser attkomponenten är helt ren. Skölj alla komponenterna ordentligt med vatten och låt dem lufttorka meninte i direkt solljus. När alla komponenterna är torra monterar du masken på nytt enligtanvisningarna.Varje vecka: Tvätta huvudbandet för hand.4
