11/2006PrefaceSafety InstructionsThis Manual contains information which you should carefully observe to ensureyour own personal safety and the prevention of material damage. The noticesreferring to your personal safety are highlighted in the manual by a safety alertsymbol, notices referring to property damage only have no safety alert symbolThe warnings appear in decreasing order of risk as given below.DangerIndicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result indeath or serious injury or in substantial property damage.tWarningIndicates that death or severe personal injury will result if proper precautions arenot taken.Cautionwith a warning triangle indicates that minor personal injury can result if proper precautions are not taken.Cautionwithout a warning triangle indicates that property damage can result if proper precautions are not taken.Noticeindicates a potential situation which, if not avoided, may result in an undesirableevent or state. If several hazards of different degrees occur, the hazard with the highest degreemust always be given priority. A warning notice accompanied by a safety alertsymbol indicating a risk of bodily injury can also indicate a risk of property damage.Qualified PersonnelThe associated device/system may only be set up and operated using this documentation. Commissioning and operation of a device/system may only be performed by qualified personnel. In such cases, the fourth row represents thedefault values and the fifth and remaining rows represent deviating values for thespecified systems. A minus symbol in a field indicates: The default value from row4 applies. In the "Protection" field, the entry "-1" indicates that the machine data for the specified system is not available.Example:10050SYSCLOCK.CYCLE TIMEN01, N05, N11G3sBasic system clock cycleDOUBLEPOWER 008-/-840di-universal-0.0020.0010.008-/-For following table is used for the area: Display machine dataMD numberName of identifierDisplay filterReferenceUnitNameData typeActivationSW versionSystemDefault valueMinimum valueMaximum valueProtectionFor following table is used for the area: Drive machine dataMD numberName of identifierDisplay filterReferenceUnitNameData typeActivationTypeSystemDefault valueMinimum valueRot/LinMaximum valueProtectionFor following table is used for the area: Machine data of the hydraulic module:MD numberName of identifierDisplay filterReferenceUnitNameData typeActivationSystem1-10Default valueTypeSW versionMinimum valueMaximum valueProtection Siemens AG 2006 All Rights ReservedSINUMERIK 840D sl, 840Di sl, Detailed Maschine Data Description (AMDsl) , 11/2006 Edition

1 Machine and Setting Data11/2006 Edition1.1 ExplanationsThe operation and display are always under protection for both types of protection. The locking for protection levels 0 to 3 can be cleared by setting the password, and the locking for 4 through 7 can be cleared via a keyswitch position. The user only has access to information related to the current protection level andthe levels below it. The machine data is assigned different protection levels bydefault. The user can change the priority of the protection levels. Only protection levels oflower priority can be assigned to the machine data, setting data can also beassigned protection levels of higher priority. The passwords are required for redefinition by the user.Specify read access APR (Access protection read) andwrite access APW (Access protection write). The protection level follows the password in the form of a number.Example:Changing rights in individual machine data% N SGUD DEFFile for global variables; PATH / N DEF DIRREDEF MA CTRLOUT SEGMENT NR APR 2 APW 2REDEF MA ENC SEGMENT NR APR 2 APW 2REDEF SN JOG CONT MODE LEVELTRIGGRD APR 2 APW 2M30The files become active when the next N INITIAL INI is read in.Display filterA short designator for the filter setting is listed in the "Display filter" field. With theaid of this filter setting, it is possible to selectively reduce the number of the displayed machine/setting data of a section.Display criteria:EXPExpert mode: Active: the MD is assigned to theexpert mode (display of MD)Depending on the machine data section, there are different display filters. Theseshort designations return in the operator interface to activate the filters. The short designations of the display filter and their meanings are listed below forthe individual machine data.1-14 Siemens AG 2006 All Rights ReservedSINUMERIK 840D sl, 840Di sl, Detailed Maschine Data Description (AMDsl) , 11/2006 Edition
