Under certain conditions,hydrogen gas may beproduced in a hot watersystem that has not beenused for two weeks or more.Hydrogen gas is explosive.Before using a dishwasherthat is connected to a hotwater system that has beenunused for two weeks orlonger, turn on all hot waterfaucets and let the waterflow from each for severalminutes. This will release anyaccumulated hydrogen gas.As the gas is explosive, donot smoke or use an openflame during this time. When cleaning yourdishwasher with anycleaning agent, remove allcookware, utensils or anyforeign material from inside.Some cleaning agents arehighly acidic and/or causticalkaline, which can cause

Remove all food particles, bones,toothpicks and excessive grease. Pre-treat items having burned-on,baked-on or starchy soils. Load dishes in the dishwasherracks so the insides of bowls,pots and pans are facing thespray arms. Avoid nesting and contact pointsbetween dishes. Separate items of dissimilarmetals. Use care to not blockmovement of the spray arms. Only wash household dishwareand kitchenware rated asdishwasher-safe.Refer to the Dishware Materialssection for more informationabout dishware suitability.NOTICETo avoid dishwasher damage, do notload the dishwasher with paperproducts, plastic bags, packingmaterials or anything other thannormal, dishwasher safe dishwareand kitchenware.Loading the lower rackPlace large items in the lowerrack 1Z. Next, unload thesilverware basket 1R followed bythe upper rack 1", and then thethird rack (if equipped).Adjustable Upper RackIf desired, the height of the upperrack can be adjusted toaccommodate larger items in thelower rack.1. Do not use too much detergent ifyour water is soft. Using too muchdetergent with soft water maycause etching in glassware andfine china. To best protect glassware, use awash cycle with low temperaturesor a specific glass-care cycle(depending on the model) anduse a detergent that includes etchprotection.This dishwasher uses less water thanmost, therefore, less detergent isrequired. With soft water,1 tablespoon (15 ml) of detergentwill clean most loads. The detergentdispenser cup has lines that measuredetergent to 1 tablespoon (15 ml)and 1.75 tablespoons (25 ml).3 tablespoons (45 ml) of detergentwill completely fill the detergentdispenser.Note: If you do not know thehardness of your water supply, use15 ml of detergent. The unit was notsubjected to truncated testing per the definitions in the test procedure. Werecommend that dish loads such as the one in the energy certification testhave the rack position set in the highest position.24
