Swimming Pool TipsStart-up and Yearly Maintenance1.3. Make sure the pool has adequate circulation. The pool If your fill water is high in metals, use a sequestering agentor metal out product at start-up only before using the POOLFROG Mineral Reservoir. See your local dealer for detailson using these products and always follow manufacturersdirections carefully.water must completely circulate through the pump andfilter at least 1 to 2 times per day. This usually requires 8to 12 hours. Check with your dealer for the proper circulationtime for your pool.4. After your pool is up and runningsmoothly, continue to test yourwater for pH, total alkalinity andchlorine and maintain its balanceby adding any necessaryadjustment products (see yourdealer for details).2. Before beginning with any pool care program, you mustfirst balance your pool water. Take a water sample to yourlocal pool professional or use a complete test kit that willtest for the following important elements.5.Water Balance GuidelinespH:Total Alkalinity:Calcium Hardness:Total Dissolved Solids:Stabilizer:Free Chlorine:7.2 – 7.860 – 120 ppm150 – 400 150020 – 80 ppm0.5 – 1.0 ppm Check the pool's filter gauge often and periodically cleanfilter per the manufacturer's directions. A dirty filter will slowthe flow of water which could hamper proper circulation.

Start-up and Operation1. Add a stabilizer or conditioner to2. Shock the pool with chlorine to ridthe pool at the beginning of theseason if the stabilizer level is below20 ppm. This will prevent chlorineburn off. Follow manufacturer’sdirections carefully.4.the water of all contaminants beforebeginning with POOL FROG XLPRO. Follow manufacturer's directionscarefully. TroubleshootingFor more in-depth troubleshooting, go to www.kingtechnology.comProblem1.What do I doif the water lookscloudy?Remedy1. Make sure your filtrationsystem is working properly (i.e.clean filter, skimmer and pumpbasket).3. Make sure the pool is properlybalanced (see page 4).4. Shock the water to eliminatebuild up of any organic matter.2. Make sure circulation time isadequate – increase pump timeif not.5. Make sure pool has afree chlorine reading of0.5 to 1.0 ppm.6. Check with your dealer formore information.2.What do I doif the water turnscolor?1. Metals in the fill water mayhave been oxidized. Have thepool tested. Shock the pool andclean the filter until water clarityreturns.2. Algae may be trying to form– shock the pool, increasecirculation time if needed andclean the filter.3. Check with your dealer formore information.3.What do I doif algae forms inor on my pool?1. Use a nonmetallic (polyquat)algaecide per the directions onthe bottle and brush the sidesof the pool often.3. If you are in an area of thecountry that struggles with algaegrowth, see your dealerregarding a 90-day AlgaeProtection Guarantee using FROG BAM . See producthang tag for guarantee details.4. Check with your dealer formore information.3. Shock the pool if the readinghas been lower than 0.5 ppmfor more than one day.6. Check for a suction side leakby looking for air bubbles in yourpump basket or at the return jet.Contact dealer for help incorrecting this situation.2. Clean the filter and shock thepool with chlorine daily untilwater clarity returns.do I do4. Whatif I am underchlorinating withthe POOL FROG Pac?1. If you are unable to maintain0.5 to 1.0 ppm, first make surethere are chlorine tablets in the tower areas of the POOL FROGPac and it is installed properly. If a correction was made, testthe water in 24 hours.2. If still low, turn the dial upone setting and test the wateragain in 24 hours. Continueraising the setting by oneincrement each day until theproper reading is achieved.5.10What do I doif I am overchlorinating withthe POOL FROG Pac?1. If the chlorine reading is over3.0 ppm, remove the Chlorine Pac from the POOL FROGChlorine Cycler and test the waterdaily until the reading is down to1.0 ppm. 2. Reinsert the POOL FROGPac, lower the dial one settingand test the water again in 24hours. If the reading has risen,4. Make sure pump run time isat least 6 hours on high speed(40 gpm or higher) or if not, bleed the air from both capknobs (see page 6 fordirections).7. Contact King Technology’sCustomer Service Department at800-222-0169.5. Contact your dealer to haveyour back pressure tested toensure it is at least 4 psi.lower the dial one setting again.Continue this process untilproper reading is achieved.3. If over-chlorinating at thelowest possible setting, considerdecreasing the circulation time.Depending on your pump size, you may be circulating the watermore than is necessary.4. Contact your dealer to haveyour back pressure tested. If over8 psi consider a larger eye-ballfitting in the return jet.5. Contact King Technology’sCustomer Service Departmentat 800-222-0169.
