Failure to comply with anyprecaution, warning, or instruction noted in the manual is in violation of the standards of design,manufacture, and intended use of the module. Siqura assumes no liability for the customer'sfailure to comply with any of these safety requirements.Trained PersonnelInstallation, adjustment, maintenance, and repair of this equipment are to be performed bytrained personnel aware of the hazards involved. For correct and safe use of the equipment andin order to keep the equipment in a safe condition, it is essential that both operating andservicing personnel follow standard safety procedures in addition to the safety precautions andwarnings specified in this manual, and that this unit be installed in locations accessible to trainedservice personnel only.Safety RequirementsThe equipment described in this manual has been designed and tested according to theUL/IEC/EN 60950-1 safety requirements.Warning: If there is any doubt regarding the safety of the equipment, do not put it intooperation.This might be the case when the equipment shows physical damage or is stressed beyondtolerable limits (for example, during storage and transportation).Important: Before opening the equipment, disconnect it from all power sources.The equipment must be powered by a SELV* power supply. This is equivalent to a Limited Powersource (LPS, see UL/IEC/EN 60950-1 clause 2.5) or a "NEC Class 2" power supply. When thismodule is operated in extremely elevated temperature conditions, it is possible for internal andexternal metal surfaces to become extremely hot.*SELV: conforming to IEC 60950-1, 60VDC output, output voltage galvanically isolated from mains. Allpower supplies or power supply cabinets available from Siqura comply with these SELV requirements.Page 7
Siqura A-80Optical Safety (A-80 /SFP)This optical equipment contains Class 1M lasers or LEDs and has been designed and tested tomeet IEC 60825-1:1993 A1 A2 and IEC 60825-2:2004 safety class 1M requirements.Warning: Optical equipment presents potential hazards to testing and servicing personnel, owingto high levels of optical radiation.When using magnifying optical instruments, avoid looking directly into the output of anoperating transmitter or into the end of a fiber connected to an operating transmitter, or therewill be a risk of permanent eye damage. Precautions should be taken to prevent exposure tooptical radiation when the unit is removed from its enclosure or when the fiber is disconnectedfrom the unit. The optical radiation is invisible to the eye.Use of controls or adjustments or procedures other than those specified herein may result inhazardous radiation exposure.The installer is responsible for ensuring that the label depicted below (background: yellow;border and text: black) is present in the restricted locations where this equipment is installed.EMCThe equipment has been tested and found to meet the CE-regulations relating to EMC, andcomplies with the limits for a Class B device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC rules. These limitsare designed to provide reasonable protection against interference to radio communications inany installation. The equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy;improper use or special circumstances may cause interference to other equipment or aperformance decrease due to interference radiated by other equipment. In such cases, the userwill have to take appropriate measures to reduce such interactions between this and otherequipment.Any interruption of the shielding inside or outside the equipment could make the equipmentmore prone to fail EMC requirements.Non-video signal lines must use appropriate shielded Cat 5 cabling (S-FTP), or at least anequivalent. Ensure that all electrically connected components are carefully earthed andprotected against surges (high voltage transients caused by switching or lightning).ESDElectrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage or destroy electronic components. Proper precautionsshould be taken against ESD when opening the equipment.Care and MaintenanceThe encoder will normally need no maintenance. In order to keep the module operating reliably,please observe the following. Page 8Prevent dust from collecting on the module.Do not expose the equipment to moisture.Keep the module within the appropriate temperature range as described in the TechnicalSpecifications section.

In the interestof protecting the natural environment, properly recycling the unit at the end ofits service life is imperative.When processing the printed circuit board, dismantling the lithium battery callsfor special attention. This kind of battery, a button cell type, contains so littlelithium, that it will never be classified as reactive hazardous waste. This chapter introducesthe unit to you by presenting its main features.In This ChapterProduct Overview . 11Front Panel . 123.1Product OverviewGeneralThe Siqura A-80 eight-channel audio and contact closure card offers a compact solution formultiple audio and contact closure channels over IP. The A-80 can be included in almost anyexisting and new CCTV solution to add audio and contact closures to the system.ModelsThe A-80 is to be used in MC 11 or similar Siqura power supply cabinets, but it is also availableas a stand-alone module (/SA version). The /SFP version of the A-80 has a pluggable SFP slot forconnections via fiber optic cable. A range of multimode or single-mode XSNet SFP devices fitthe empty SFP slot. Front panel LEDs indicate network status, stream status (sync), and DCpower. All models have backup battery power for their clocks.AudioThe A-80 adds eight separate bidirectional audio channels to the CCTV system. The audio inputssupport either line-level or microphone–level with additional biasing to power electretmicrophones. By using RTP/RTCP in combination with network time synchronization (NTP) theaudio streams can be made lip-sync with almost any video stream.Contact ClosuresEight contact closure inputs can be configured to ‘stream’ contact closure signals to the Siqurai-NVR, for example, or to activate a signal in the API. In addition, the A-80 offers four contactclosure outputs to connect with third-party PLCs or other telemetry systems. The CC output canbe activated through the API or received CC streams.Web InterfaceConfiguration and management are simplified by the access-controlled web interface. Fullin-band control is available through Siqura ’s MX Configuration Tool Kit or the HTTP API. TheSiqura A-80 is field-upgradeable.Page 11
Siqura A-80Open Streaming Architecture (OSA)The A-80 is designed to comply with the worldwide adopted standards for streaming audio. OSAoffers standardized streaming audio and remote control. All streaming protocols are based onproven standards and tested with different vendors. A comprehensive HTTP API gives access toall controls, which makes integration with third-party equipment easy. The API is available athttp://www.siqura.com/. In addition to OSA, the A-80 supports Siqura’s unique MX protocol.CompatibilityThe A-80 is part of Siqura , a complete collection of video surveillance equipment and solutions.As such, the A-80 is compatible with Siqura video codecs/servers, IP cameras, videomanagement, network storage, and configuration software.
