Our dedication to the At-Promise model will help createpathways to success for youth in Atlanta and reduce the number of young people whonegatively experience the criminal justice system.ABOUT THE AT-PROMISEYOUTH & COMMUNITY CENTERThe At-Promise Youth and Community Center will be a state-of-the-artlearning and community facility withspecialized services for youth and agathering place for residents, groupactivities and other purposes. Located in historic English Avenue, theAt-Promise Center is an opportunityto participate in the revitalization efforts of this community.This center is the cornerstone of theAtlanta Police Foundation’s youthcrime reduction initiative. This model focuses on three major areas:The Edge DIVERSION - an alternative to arrest and probation INTERVENTION - strategies to address behavior PREVENTION - to promote and foster personal growth and developmentThe TankREFERRAL METHODSLearning LabAtlanta Police DepartmentThrough the support of the Fulton County Juvenile Court system, a young person who has committed aminor offense, may be referred to the Center at the discretion of an APD officer. With parental authorization,a professional assessment will be performed to determine the most effective treatment interventions necessary to best meet the needs of each individual youth.The ZonePathways Program: Atlanta Public School SystemA youth who attends an Atlanta public school can be referred to the Center for out-of-school treatmentservices that are beyond the scope of the school system.Fulton County Juvenile Court & Fulton County Juvenile ProbationYouth who reside on the Westside who have prior misdemeanor convictions or who are currently servinga probation sentence will be referred to the Center. Upon arrival, a needs assessment will be conducted todetermine the most effective treatment interventions necessary.KitchenThe VillageIt takes a village to raise a family, and this network is made up of concerned, community members who wantto see our young people succeed. OUR PARTNERSThe At-Promise Youth Center brings together this robust network ofyouth-serving agencies to collaborate and coordinate atransformative system of care for our city’s youth.BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB METRO ATLANTA (B&GCMA) For more than 75 years, Boys& Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta has worked to save and change the lives of childrenand teens, especially those who need us most, by providing a safe, positive, and engaging environment and programs that prepare and inspire them to achieve GreatFutures. Our 25 Clubs, located in some of our city’s most underserved communities,open their doors every day to more than 3,300 kids and teens. We focus on helpingyouth succeed in school, live healthy, and become leaders.CHRIS 180 (C180) Since 1981, CHRIS 180 has transformed more than 60,000 lives.CHRIS 180 saves, serves, and protects traumatized children, adults, and familiesthrough solution-focused programming that empowers them to change the directionof their lives. This approach enables those we help to reach their happiness, health,and success despite challenging circumstances. The name CHRIS 180 represents ourcore values: Creativity, Honesty, Respect, Integrity, and Safety. CHRIS 180’s ambitionis to be Georgia’s go-to place where every child, young adult, or family who have experienced trauma discover how to recover, become resilient, and pivot toward a newfuture of hope and confidence.“The At-Promise model will help create pathways for successfor youth in Atlanta and reduce the number of young peoplewho negatively experience the criminal justice system.”EXPECTED OUTCOMES Decrease in youth arrests and recidivism by 10% annually 90% of diversion participants to complete their individual program Increase officer/youth relations through: Enrollment in mentoring programs Increase in youth employment Based on job placement and vocational training Improve community relations and mobilization Pre and Post Community Assessment Increase in school attendancePOLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE (PAL) The Atlanta Police Athletic League is a non-profitorganization with a mission to provide a safe environment for youth to reach their fullpotential through partnerships with police and the community. PAL utilizes athletics,activities, and other programming geared toward improving quality-of-life for youthparticipants, by promoting confidence, self-esteem, civic engagement, academicachievement, and social principles. Our goal is to aid youth in becoming nurturing,productive members of society.STREET SMART YOUTH PROJECT (SSYP) Our mission is to actively engage minorityyouth in structured, community-based programs. With an emphasis on delinquency, substance abuse, teen pregnancy and HIV prevention, we are actively preparingand empowering youth as they grow into happy healthy adults. SSYP has servedthe English Avenue community since 2003 and continues to target under-resourcedyouth and young adults by utilizing evidence-based prevention and early intervention programming. SSYP treatment models, which encourage empowerment, behavior change and opportunity, allow our youth to transform, transcend and take flight.URBAN LEAGUE GREATER ATLANTA (ULGA) The National Urban League, foundedin 1910 and headquartered in New York City, spearheads our nonprofit, Non-partisan,national community-based movement that has grown to 88 affiliates in 35 states andthe District of Columbia across the country. The Atlanta Urban League was founded in 1920 as an affiliate of the National Urban League. Now known as The UrbanLeague of Greater Atlanta, the agency works diligently to empower communities andchange lives. The Urban League’s focus is preparing the workforce for careers in the21st century and the new economy; raising the graduation rate among metro Atlantastudents and preparing youth for college and careers; homeownership and wealthcreation; entrepreneurship and small business growth; and serving as an advocate foreducation, civic engagement and economic development and a voice for the underserved in our community.
