It is the final category, vocations tothe priesthood, which we focus on especially today, and recognise that a time ofdiscernment, listening for the voice of the Lord as do the sheep in today’s Gospel, isintrinsic to identifying what God is calling each one of us to do. Our vocation is arecognition of God’s call to me in my life, and an acceptance of this call by me.In order that we might more clearly hear that call in our lives, Bishop Patrick hasasked us to pray this Prayer for Vocations today at Mass, and we might considerpraying it daily at home also: for our own vocation, and for those who are seeking todiscover what God is asking them to do:God Our Father,we thank you for calling men and women to servein your Son’s Kingdom, as Priests, Deacons, and asReligious Men and Women.Send your Holy Spirit to help others to respondgenerously and courageously to your call.May we continue to support and encouragevocations in our families and in our parishcommunity. We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ your Son,who lives and reigns with you in the unity of theHoly Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen
