The guitar that started it all.I was given this little guitar in 2003 at the factory. It wasmy first custom shop 808. I had played the prototype 808since 1994 and didn't want to part with it because I didn'tthink I would ever play something better. However, themoment I played this new Mouse, I was surprised at howfamiliar it felt and how much better it sounded. From thatmoment on, I couldn't put it down. It became my closestcompanion and constant source of mojo. I wrote so manysongs on this guitar. The music that poured from methrough this little box became unstoppable. Songs likeAngelina, Endless Road, The Mystery, Lewis and Clark,(Man With The) Green Thumb, Haba Na Haba, Cowboy'sDream, Ruby's Eyes, the list goes on.Photo courtesy of Kane Hibbard
There's a crack in the face that happened in the middleof a show, high up in the Rocky Mountains and there's ahole in the top shoulder where I got a little enthusiastic ata show in Canberra, Australia. The little, gold kangarooon the headstock was a pin given to me by an old air forcedigger. My friend, Ross Clunes, suggested glueing it on tothe headstock, so we did and many people asked Matonfor kangaroos on their headstocks. So many in fact thatthey had to make it in pearl as a permanent feature on mysignature models. I appreciate our journey together, andMaton continue to raise the standard all the time.Photo courtesy of Kane Hibbard

In 1959 Oliviero Pigini conceived the Eko project and created the first guitar prototypes. A short time after this he founded in Castelfidardo the Eko S.a.s. EKO began to produce traditional acoustic guitars and small archtop guitars of clear Sicilian origin. Eko's philosophy was to offer a full range of guitars, produced with standardized
body electric guitars. Trying to understand these effects and interactions was actually the motivation for why I started building guitars in the first place and the beginning of Calaveras Fretworks Custom Guitars. A few years back I put a Maple Tele neck on the first CFCG mahogany body and was floored by

According to Armando Vega, marketing manager for Electric Guitars, Basses and Amps at Yamaha, it was changes in musical taste that originally prompted the company to expand from acoustics into semi-hollow electrics. “It was a sign of the times,” he said. Vega noted that Yamaha’s 50 years of experience building guitars, coupled with the
At all: Electric guitars were built to play loud and hard!!! And finally acoustic guitars were much too faint to get through really within bigger ensembles or even orchestras. The first acceptable representative electric guitars were built by Adolph Rickenbacker and George Beauchamp at the beginning of the 30s in the last century.

Different-type electric guitars require different woods and construction methods. Hollowbody archtops, like the earliest electric guitars, are typically acoustic instruments to which
