DL8000Product Data SheetD301255X012April 2020DL8000 PresetThe DL8000 Preset is a rugged electronic preset thatprovides precise custody transfer batches for petroleum, industrial chemicals, and other products. It acceptsvolumetric and mass inputs from turbine, Coriolis, ultrasonic, or other flow measurement devices using singleor linearized meter factors. (Pulse-generating meters arerecommended for improved valve closure accuracy.)The DL8000 also performs density, temperature, andpressure corrections using the latest standards andaccurately calculates delivered volumes at standardconditions (60 F, 15 C, 20 C, or user-selectable) usingdouble precision math. The DL8000 can control and blendup to four products sequentially or simultaneously (ratioblending). It can control up to 10 additives through meteredinjection and can store up to 30 recipes for blending.Density CorrectionThe DL8000 accepts density signals as a frequency, 4–20mA, or through a communications device. It accepts inputsfrom a flowing density meter (such as a Micro Motion frequency densitometer or a Micro Motion Coriolis meter). The DL8000 corrects observed density to standardconditions and calculates the temperature and pressurevolume correction factors.DL8000 Preset(Class I, Zone 1 Version)Remote Automation SolutionsTemperature CompensationThe DL8000 can accept an input from an Analog Input orRTD device. It then calculates a temperature volumecorrection factor in accordance with the followingstandards:Hydrocarbon Standards API MPMS Chapter 11.1 (1980) / API2540 (1980) /ASTM D1250 / ANSI D1250 / IP200Tables: 5A, 5B, 5D, 6A, 6B, 6C, 6D, 23A, 23B, 23D, 24A,24B, 24C, 24D, 53A, 53B, 53D, 54A, 54B, 54C, 54DAPI MPMS 11.1 (2004) / ASTM D1250-04 / IP200/04ISO 91.1 (1992)ISO 91.2 (1991) / IP3 (1988)Tables: 59A, 59B, 59D, 60A, 60B, 60DGPA TP27 (2007) (supersedes TP-25) / API MPMSChapter 11.2.4Tables: 23E, 24E, 53E, 54E, 59E, 60EAPI ASTM-IP 1952Tables: 53, 54Ethanol Standards ABNT NBR 5992:2009OIML R22 (1973)DL8000 Preset(Class I, Div. 2 Version)

DL8000April 2020Pressure CompensationThe DL8000 can accept a 4–20 mA signal from a pressuretransducer and compensate flow calculations for volumetricdue to pressure in accordance with the following standards: API MPMS 11.1 (2004) / ASTM D1250-04 / IP200/04API MPMS 11.2.1API MPMS 11.2.2API MPMS 11.2.1(M)API MPMS 11.2.2(M)Pulse FidelityThe DL8000 monitors dual pulse inputs for integrity inaccordance with the following standards: ISO 6551-1982 and BS 6439-1983API Petroleum Measurement Standard, Chapter 5.5,level B and Institute of Petroleum Standard, IP 252.76,Part XIII, Section 1, Level B.Meter Factor LinearizationThe DL8000 can perform linearization of meter factors and Kfactors using up to 12 points to ensure accuracy over theentire range of flow.ReportingThe DL8000 generates reports in compliance with NISTHandbook 44 – 2006 Edition and 2003 Update, with NCWMPublication 14, and API MPMS Chapter 12.2.2.Other Features Archival storage of 200 transactions with up to fourbatches each and 450 alarms.Storage of the last 1000 weights & measures events (inaccordance with NIST Handbook 44).Integral Weights & Measures switch.Independent permissive sensing AC power.Digital valve control with automatic high flow raterecovery.Independent temperature compensation methods forindividual products.Automatically sensing or user-entered values forthermal expansion and linear equation.User-entered vapor pressure of light hydrocarbons.OperationsThe DL8000’s user-friendly multi-language display promptsthe operator through the entire loading or unloadingsequence, assuring a safe and reliable operation.2LoadingThe loading sequence starts after the operator connects thesafety circuits, selects a recipe, enters a preset quantity, andpresses the Start button. The DL8000 automatically turns onthe required product pumps and additive injectionequipment and opens the digital flow control valves.A low-flow start sequence can be initiated to reduce staticbuild-up when delivering petroleum products. To keeploading time to a minimum, the DL8000 automaticallymaintains the highest possible flow rate the system candeliver. When additives are present, the maximum flow rateis 2700 units/minute. Three different flow profiles for eachrecipe provide maximum system flexibility regardless of themeter size. When certain recipes require small percentagesof one or more components, you can configure theprogrammable flow profiles to automatically deliver smallpercentage component(s) only during the high flow stage ofthe delivery. As the end of the batch sequence approaches, thecomponent streams slow to a pre-defined low-flow/stopflow rate. The high-speed digital valve control algorithm, working in conjunction with the linear digital control valve, ensures a smooth, repeatable, low-flow/final stop withoutline shock. To assure product quality, you can program an automaticsingle product line-flush sequence at the end of the deliveryto flush the loading arm with a single base product.UnloadingThe unloading process requires that the container (truck orrail car) is completely emptied of its contents. A pumpassisted gravity transfer is often sufficient for the task. However, in unloading applications, custody transfermeasurements can be used to check against the expectedquantity on the bill of lading. The unloading sequence starts after the operator connectsthe safety circuits, selects a recipe, and presses the Startbutton. The DL8000 displays a series of preparatorymessages (“Prebatch Testing” and “Line Pack Delay”). As theunloading begins, the program updates the Unload screen toindicate the quantity of fluid unloaded. The unload process continues until one of the followingevents occurs: The unload reaches the maximum preset quantity, orThe operator presses STOP to pause the unload, orThe container empties (determined by the activation ofa low pressure, low-flow, or no flow alarm). The Start, Pause, Resume, and Stop controls available at theDL8000’s keypad display and are critical to the unloadingprocess. The operator can pause an unload process, allowcrude to drain from the sides of the container and collectnear the outlet, and resume the unload process with a finalStart-Stop cycle.www.Emerson.com/RemoteAutomation

DL8000April 2020Data CommunicationsBlend RecipesMemory allows up to 30 blend recipes. Each recipe hasindividual totalizers and is highly configurable, providingmaximum flexibility.LinearizationMulti-point linearization is programmable with up to 12points. The DL8000 automatically interpolates between the12-meter factor setpoints to assure system accuracy overthe required flow ranges.Vapor RecoveryMeasures the amount of returned or recovered vapor duringthe loading of light hydrocarbons, and computes the Netdelivered for billing purposes. This feature is available formass delivery only and the delivered quantity will be equal tothe preset amount. In addition, GPA TP-15 allows the DL8000 to calculate andmaintain the back pressure above the vapor pressure duringloading. This reduces vapor pressure loss and emissions.Metered Additive InjectionMeasures and controls the additive amount injected into theproduct stream for up to ten additives. The injection site canbe selected as either upstream or downstream, and theadditive amount can be included in total or in addition to thedelivered quantity.DanLoad 6000 Protocol SupportThe DL8000 supports all terminal automation commandsnecessary for terminal operation and some for terminalautomation configuration. This allows you to multi-dropyour existing DanLoad 6000s with the DL8000 withoutchanges to the host.Swing Arm Position DetectionThe DL8000 allows swing arm safety circuit operation, andyou have the option to select which side (one, two, or both)is applicable per circuit.AlarmsThe DL8000 offers comprehensive alarms for blendingsystems. You can define each alarm action for no action, display only, close relay contact, stop loading process, orlock the unit. Built-in programmable alarm conditions arealso user-selectable. You can also configure the referencebase temperature for compensation corrections.Data SecurityData is secured with a 4-digit user-defined access code. Allcalibration data is secured with the access code and a wiresealable mechanical security switch that is integrallymounted in the DL8000 keypad.www.Emerson.com/RemoteAutomationThe DL8000 has three built-in communication ports. Theunit can support up to three additional ports (via optionalcommunications cards) for a total of six ports. The built-incommunication ports are: Local Operator Interface (RS-232D) – LOI.Ethernet – Comm1.EIA-232 (RS-232) – Comm2.The Local Operator Interface (LOI) port’s standard RJ-45connector provides an EIA-232 (RS-232D) link between theCPU and a PC.
