Many people with COVID-19 are nottested, so the cases in this report representonly a fraction of the total number of people inMinnesota who have had COVID-19. The COVID-19 case definition now includesboth polymerase chain reaction (PCR)testing and antigen testing. Positive PCRtest results are considered confirmed cases.Positive antigen test results are consideredprobable cases. All data is preliminary and may change as casesare investigated. Many data points are collected during caseinterviews. Data presented below is for allcases, regardless of interview status. Datafor cases pending interview may be listed as“unknown/missing”. Weekly data is reported by MMWR week, whichis the week of the year assigned by the NationalNotifiable Diseases Surveillance System for thepurposes of disease reporting and publishing. Numbers listed as cumulative total arecumulative since Jan. 20, 2020 for confirmed(PCR) tests and cases, and since Sept. 1, 2020 forprobable (antigen) tests and cases. Laboratory Tests for COVID-19Testing numbers show how many total tests have been done for people who live in Minnesota. Some people get tested more thanonce. Tests are reported per test to account for changes in testing capacity and for individuals who are tested more than once overthe course of the pandemic. Total laboratory tests includes both PCR and antigen tests.
