3 Operation3.1 PreparationAAWARNING: First time use: Run theappliance at least 4 times withoutadding coffee.WARNING: Please follow the steps1 - 2 and 7 - 12 in the “BrewingCoffee” section.1. Remove all packaging and stickers anddispose of them according to applicable legalregulations.2. Before using the appliance for the first time,clean all parts which come into contact withwater carefully. Please see full details in the“Cleaning and Care” section.3. Make sure that the appliance is placed in anupright position and on a stable, flat, clean, dry,and non-slip surface.3.2 Brewing Coffee1. Remove the water tank (6) by holding themoulded handles at the rear of the tank andlifting upwards and fill with the requiredamount of water, but do not fill past the “10”mark. The brewed amount of coffee will be 10%less than the filled water, because it is absorbedby the coffee grounds and the filter. For thegood coffee taste it is suggested to operate theappliance with at least 4 cups coffee serving.CCUse only clean, cold, and freshdrinking water.There is a drip hole on the backof the water reservoir to preventexceeding the capacity of the coffeemaker. If you add too much water,it will drip out from the back of theappliance.2. Close the water tank cover (1) and open thefilter basket cover (2).3. Pull out the filter basket (3).Coffee Maker / User Manual4. Take a suitable paper filter (1 x 4) and insert thepaper filter into the filter basket (3).CUse only one paper filter at eachtime. Make sure that the paper filterdoes not bend or fold.AWARNING: If the filter basket (3)is not closed or the glass jug (8) isnot placed accurately, the drip-stopfunction will not work properly. Itcould cause hot water or hot coffeeto overflow.5. Fill the filter with the desired amount of groundcoffee. To do this, you may use the suppliedmeasuring spoon.6. Insert the filter basket (3) back into the housing.7. Place the glass jug (8) on the warming plate (9).8. Connect the plug to the wall socket.9. Turn the appliance on by pushing the On/Offbutton (16).– The On/Off button (16) illuminates and thebrewing process begins.CCCThe brewing process can be stoppedat any time by pushing the On/Offbutton (16) again.Ventilation slots allow the steamoutput. Do not block these duringuse.The coffee machine has a staywarm function and can keep thebrewed coffee warm for up to30 minutes when the machine isswitched on. In accordance with ecodesign guidelines, the machine willautomatically switch itself off afterthis time.9 / 14 EN

3 OperationCThe appliance is equipped with adrip-stop (7) located underneaththe filter basket (3) and enablesyou to briefly remove the glass jug(8) to pour coffee before the waterhas finished running through themachine.AWARNING: Make sure to placethe glass jug (8) on the warmingplate (9) quickly (max. 30 seconds).Otherwise the brewed coffee fromthe filter could overflow. If you wantto use the glass jug for more than 30seconds switch off the appliance.AWARNING: Never pull out thefilter basket (3) during the brewingprocess even if no water is drainingfrom the filter. Extremely hot wateror coffee can spill out from the filterbasket and cause injury.AWARNING: If water/coffee is notdraining from the filter basket (3)after several seconds with theglass jug (8) properly in place (9)immediately unplug the applianceand wait 10 minutes before openingand checking the filter basket (3).AWARNING: When the brewingprocess ends and the water levelindicator (5) is empty, there will stillbe hot liquid in the filter basket (3).Wait a few minutes for the rest ofthe liquid to drip into the glass jug(8).10. Remove the glass jug (8) from thewarming plate (9) as soon as the brewingprocess has finished and the glassjug (8) is filled. The coffee is ready.10 / 14 EN11. To turn the appliance off, push the On/Offbutton (16).12. Disconnect the appliance from the wall socket.CIf you want to continue the brewingprocess, repeat the procedure from1 to 12. Let the appliance cool downat least 15 minutes between eachbrewing process.CFor a better aroma, use aromabutton (15) which activates a uniquebrewing process that enhances theflavour and aroma of your coffee.To reach this rich flavour, the coffeemaker advances through severalcontinuous cycles. This special timerelease process saturates groundcoffee gradually to extract the bestflavour and aroma.Hints and Tips Use softened or filtered water to prevent limebuild-up. Store unused coffee in a cool, dry place. Afteropening a package of coffee reseal it tightly tomaintain its freshness. Do not reuse the coffee sediment in the filtersince this will reduce the flavour. Reheating coffee is not recommended as coffeeis at its peak flavour immediately after brewing.3.3 Automatic brewingCIn order to use the auto brewfunction you must first set the clock.Coffee Maker / User Manual

3 Operation3.4 Setting the clock1. Press the settings button for hours (14) to setthe current hour.– Press and hold the button to advance thenumbers quickly.2. Press the settings button for minutes (13) toset the current minute.– Press and hold the button to advance thenumbers quickly.CTo shut the auto brew function off,simply press the Auto on button (11)again. The light will turn off.6. Remove the glass jug (8) from the warmingplate (9), as soon as the brewing process hasfinished and the glass jug (8) is filled. Thecoffee is ready.7. To turn the appliance of, push the On/Offbutton (16).3.5 Setting the auto brewfunction1. Follow the steps 1 - 8 in the “Brewing Coffee”section.2. Press the Program button (10) to set the desiredauto brew time.– Program button illuminates.3. Set the time you want the appliance to beginbrewing by using the Settings button for hours(14) and the Settings button for minutes (13).CTo check your auto brew start time,simply press the Program button(10). The set time will be displayedfor a few seconds on the display (12)It will automatically return to currenttime.4. Press the Auto on button (11).– The Auto on button (11) will illuminate.5. 4 Information4.1 Cleaning and careAAWARNING: Never use petrolsolvents, abrasive cleaners, metalobjects or hard brushes to clean theappliance.CBefore using the appliance aftercleaning, dry all parts carefully witha soft cloth or paper towel.WARNING: Never put the applianceor power cord in water or any otherliquid.1. Turn the appliance off and disconnect it fromthe wall socket.2. Allow the appliance to cool down.3. Remove the glass jug (8).4. Open the filter basket cover (2).5. Pull out the filter basket (3). Remove the paperfilter and dispose of it with the coffee sediment.6. Clean the filter basket (3) by placing underrunning water and using a small amount of mildcleanser. The filter basket (3) can be cleanedin the upper shelf of the dishwasher or underrunning water.7. Use a damp soft cloth and some mild cleanser toclean the exterior of the appliance.8. Insert the filter basket (3) back into the housingand close the filter basket cover (2).9. Place the glass jug (8) onto support for warmingplate (9).2. Prior to commencing the descaling processthoroughlyreadthemanufacturer’spackage insert for the descaler. Should themanufacturer’s instructions differ fromthe ones listed below, then follow themanufacturer’s instructions.CYou can also use white vinegarand lemon juice instead of acommercially available descaler.3. Fill the water tank to the 12 marking and adddescaler.Mixing ratio: 4 parts water to 1 part descaler.4. Turn the appliance on and allow approximatelyone large coffee cup to run through theappliance.5. Turn the appliance off.6. Let the mixture soak for about 15 minutes.7. Repeat steps 4 – 6.8. Now turn the appliance on and let the entiremixture run through.9. Fill the water tank with cold, fresh drinkingwater and run all the water through.10. Repeat step 9 four times.11. Now you may brew coffee again.4.2 Descaling the applianceDescaling extends the life of your appliance.Descale your coffee maker at least 4 times peryear. The period depends on the water hardnessin your area. The harder the water is, the moreoften the appliance has to be descaled.1. Purchase a suitable descaler from a specialitystore. 4 Information4.3 Storage If you do not plan to use the appliance for a longperiod of time, please store it carefully. Makesure the appliance is unplugged and completelydry. Store the appliance in a cool, dry place. Makesure the appliance is kept out of the reach ofchildren.4.4 Handling andtransportation During handling and transportation, carrythe appliance in its original packaging. Thepackaging of the appliance protects it againstphysical damages. Do not place heavy loads on the appliance or thepackaging. The appliance may be damaged.
