Thermo Scientific Revco Utility Refrigerator/Freezer1IntroductionThis manual provides installation and operation instructions foryour Revco utility refrigerator/freezer.This model features: 2Large capacity — approximately 17 cu. ft. in the refrigeratorcompartment, 8 cu. ft. in the freezer compartmentCooling by forced air circulationAutomatic defrostSeparate freezer and refrigerator temperature controls, mounted on a control panel inside the refrigeratorcompartmentPower saver and moisture control switches.Safety PrecautionsIn this manual and on labels attached to this product, the wordsWARNING and CAUTION mean the following:Installation and Operation3Unpacking and InspectionAt delivery, examine the exterior for physical damage while thecarrier’s representative is present. If exterior damage is present, carefully unpack and inspect the unit and all accessories fordamage. If there is no exterior damage, unpack and inspect the equipmentwithin five days of delivery. If you find any damage, keep thepacking materials and immediately report the damage to thecarrier. Do not return goods to the manufacturer withoutwritten authorization. When submitting a claim for shippingdamage, request that the carrier inspect the shipping containerand equipment.Model and serial numbers are important when requesting serviceparts from your dealer or the Technical Services Group. Thesenumbers are found on the outside of the cabinet, bottom left frontcorner or inside the cabinet on the left wall at about eye level. You can record the identification numbers on the back page ofthis manual. WARNING: a potentially hazardous situation which, if notavoided, could result in serious injury or death. CAUTION: a potentially hazardous situation which, if notavoided, may result in minor or moderate injury or damage tothe equipment. Before installing, using or maintaining this product, please be sureto read this manual and product warning labels carefully. Failure tofollow these instructions may cause this product to malfunction, which could result in injury or damage. The following important safety precautions apply to this product: Use this product only in the way described in the productliterature and in this manual. Before using it, verify that thisproduct is suitable for its intended use. Do not modify system components, especially the controller.Use OEM exact replacement equipment or parts. Before use, confirm that the product has not been altered in any way. Your unit must be properly grounded in conformity withnational and local electrical codes. Never connect the unit tooverloaded power sources. Disconnect the unit from all power sources before cleaning, troubleshooting, or performing other maintenance on theproduct or its controls.1

Thermo Scientific Revco Utility Refrigerator/Freezer5InstallationCAUTION! Improper operation of the equipmentcould result in dangerous conditions. To precludehazard and minimize risk, follow all instructions andoperate within design limits noted on the dataplate.5.1Installation and OperationLocation5.3The unit must be level. Rotate the leveling screws, located underthe front corners of the unit, until the unit is level. If the floor isseriously out of level, you may need to shim the corners with thinsheets of metal.Install the unit in a level area free from vibration with a minimumof 1.5 inches of space on all sides.Note:Do not position the equipment in direct sunlight or near heatingdiffusers, radiators, or other sources of heat. The ambienttemperature range must be between 60 and 90 F (16 to 32 C).5.45.2WiringCAUTION! Connect the equipment to the correctpower source. Incorrect voltage can result in severedamage to the equipment.DANGER!For personal safety and trouble-freeoperation, this unit must be properly grounded beforeit is used. Failure to ground the equipment may causepersonal injury or damage to the equipment. Alwaysconform to the National Electrical Code and localcodes. Do not connect unit to already overloadedpower lines. This model uses 15 amp power cords. They are rated for 115volts, AC, 60 Hz. Do not use extension cords, and always use athree prong grounded wall outlet. Figure 1 shows the standardNEMA service cord plug and wall outlets used for allrefrigerators and freezers.5-15RLevelingUse thin sheets of metal to level units equipped withcasters.Door SealTo check the door seal, complete the following steps:1. Open the refrigerator door.2. Insert a strip of paper (a couple of inches wide) between thedoor gasket and the cabinet flange and close the door.3. Slowly pull the paper strip from the outside. You should feelsome resistance.4. Repeat this test at 4 inch intervals around the door. If the doordoes not seal properly, replace the gasket.5. Check the freezer door seal, repeating steps 1-4.CAUTION! Door seal integrity is critical forrefrigerators and freezers. A loose fitting gasketallows moist air to be drawn into the cabinet, resultingin quicker frost buildup on the evaporator coil, longerrunning time, poor temperature maintenance, andincreased operation cost.5-20R(accepts both5-15P and 5-20P)15A-115VNEMA 5-15PFigure 1. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners. When the condenser tubing on the back is dusty, vacuum it clean.CAUTION! Condensers should be cleaned at leastevery six months. In heavy traffic areas, condensersload with dirt more quickly. Failure to keep thecondenser clean can result in equipment warm-up orerratic temperatures.8TroubleshootingTable 1.Troubleshooting ProceduresProblemUnit does notoperate.Temperaturefluctuates.Unit warms up.CauseSolutionPower supply1. Cole-Cole plot analysis A simple evaluation of the Debye Equations (3) and (4) shows that the relation between ε' and ε" of the complex dielectric constant (ε٭) is the equation of a circle. By eliminating (ωτ), these two Equations 2, 3) can be combined and written in the form of a circle:

Cole-Cole model of order (which is equivalent to an SLS for 1) is interpreted as a mathematical relation between the time- or frequency-dependent stress and strain measured in some experiments. This mathematical relation can be described empirically and without any knowledge of the physical interactions involved.
