1BARTLETT AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE2020 Program of Work2020 EditionStrategic Alignment for the CommunityBUILDING UPON FOUR DECADES OF GROWTHIn 1970 Bartlett was a sleepy township of 1,700 people, best knownfor its rural setting and dairy farms. By 1980 the population had reached17,000 at which time its city leaders recognized the need for a chamber ofcommerce. Ever since the Bartlett Chamber was established in 1980, it hasplayed an active role in the community’s economic growth. Today, with apopulation of nearly 60,000, Bartlett is Tennessee’s 10th largest city, recognized as a leader in advanced manufacturing and the epicenter for theState’s medical device industry.There is much for Bartlett to be proud of, yet among all the achievements of our community, its entrepreneurial spirit must be recognized asone of our more enduring assets. 2The Bartlett Area Chamber Members are the life-MEMBERSHIPblood of our organization. As we celebrate 40 years inBartlett, we want to maximize their partnerships in 2020.Partnerships with the Chamber, and partnerships withone another as Members of this Chamber. We’ll be working to create mutuallybeneficial engagements both digitally and in person to maximize networking,community involvement and marketing exposure to the Bartlett and Mid-Southcommunities for the growth of their businesses and enhancement of theirreach.Our members will continue to experience hyper responsive customer servicethey’ve grown to expect. We’ll also offer a side of proactive invitations to joinclassic and new partnership opportunities, events, and meetings. The heart ofany B2B or B2C company will always be the people that make up the organizations. 3ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENTAs the BACC’s Vision 20/20 ten-year strategic plan comes to an end,we are initiating a more comprehensive long term strategic planning process to identify Bartlett’s corestrengths, challenges and opportunities. It will also align our effortswith those of the City, Bartlett City Schools and other ECD partners.In addition, we look to fully utilize the pooled resources ofEDGE and the Shelby County Chamber Alliance by making use ofthe joint website, investment recruitment trips and sharing information and marketing.With the fall opening of TCAT’s new Bartlett Career Centerand the continued development of our career readiness trainingprograms, the BACC will work to address workforce needs of existing and potential companies in the Bartlett area. In partnershipwith Bartlett City Schools, early education will be a major part ofour workforce development strategy, and will continue to be aselling point for residents and companies looking to locate in Bartlett.2020 PROJECTIONS & GOALS 120 Million in new capitalinvestments – 20% increase630 New jobs – 5% increase100 new housing starts – 50%increase210 New business licenses –10% increase200 existing business calls –30% increase 115K in private strategicinvestors – 15% increase300 workers undergoingcareer readiness trainingThe BACC will remain diligent in its pursuit to identify andmake available prime commercial property. As new housing options come to the market, we will work to attract retail and housing opportunities that coincide with the changing demographicsand their demands.The BACC continues to market the area’s advantages andstrengths to better position Bartlett as a great place to life, work,play and raise a family. Promote Bartlett as a major medical device center. Enhance the image and mission of the Shelby CountyChambers of Commerce Alliance for economicdevelopment. Work with commercial landowners and developers toattract industrial & commercial users. Evaluate funding opportunities from the State of TN and TVA Engage with Retail Strategies Group to gain insight onfor the development of commercial and industrialmonthly progress and strategic goals.properties. 4COMMUNICATION & MARKETINGMarketing and Public Relations within the BartlettArea Chamber of Commerce has multiple goals:Serving the businesscommunity of Bartlett andNortheast Shelby County To grow our membership as a whole and increase brand recognition in the community; To advertise our members, and their products and services, toother members; To advertise our members, and their products and services to thegeneral public.By using paid and trade advertising we intend to increasebrand recognition throughout Northeast Shelby County. Through social media and search engine optimization we will find maximum exposure for Exclusive Chamber Deals (formerly Hot Deals), as well asStaying Ahead of the Curve and Travel with Chamber. As our Member Dashboard draw new users to our website we find increasedcommunity engagement as well as brand exposure.Our website also continues to be a primary source of information for our members and the community. Updating our websiteto be more visually stimulating and organized not only find logisticalbenefits, but is the face of our organization as we enter the 20’s.Modernizing our website, logos and communication methods affirmsour brand values and mission.2020 Marketing GoalsThe BACC is excited to announce its 9th season ofTravel with the Chamber. Thispopular program attractstravelers throughout the region and many are repeatparticipants. The BACChopes to partner its 2020marketing efforts with majormedia outlets in order toreach and even larger audience.
