There is a strong relationship betweenneat, clean and appropriate clothing and a positive learning environment. Thefollowing are part of our dress code expectations: t-shirts display appropriate and acceptable pictures and wordsyou are comfortably covered even when raising your hand in class or sittingin the gym for an assembly (i.e., no beachwear, bare midriffs, muscle shirts,straps on shirts must be at least 2 fingers in width)no exposed underwear, including boxer shorts and bra strapsshorts and skirts should be appropriate and be of suitable length (to the tipof the middle finger with arms strait at sides)no headgear should be worn unless it is a faith accommodationno bandanas or durags are to be worn on the head, attached to theclothing or hanging from pockets*Centennial Senior’s dress code also applies to school excursions and relatedfunctions.4

AnnouncementsStudent announcements are read over the PA system in school during the day.Announcements are also posted on our school website daily. Families can sign up tofollow our school website and receive notification whenever any information isposted on the website. This can be done by filling out the appropriate information atthe following ubscribe/Pages/default.aspxHealth & MedicationParents/guardians are required to notify the school office of any medical concerns.Students not feeling well during the school day must report to the office.It is the policy of the Peel District School Board that school students who requiremedications at school (epipen, puffer, etc.) have a form on file in the school that hasbeen signed by a parent/guardian and a doctor. This form can be obtained fromthe office.Locks and LockersStudents in Grade 6 will share a locker with a partner of the same gender who is inthe same class. Students may not change lockers or locker partners without thepermission of their homeroom teacher. Students must use a combination lock andmay do so under the following conditions: It is a combination lock – no key (preferably a Dudley lock)The combination is registered with their homeroom teacherLockers are treated gentlyCombinations are kept confidential** Damage due to student abuse may result in locker privileges being removedand/or payment for repairs. If you suspect someone knows your combination,change your lock and give the new combination to your teacher.5

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP @ CentennialStudents are able to use Board technology and Personal Electronic Devices(PEDs) for educational purposes only as outlined in the expectations below: PEDs may be used in the classroom only with permission of a teacher or otherstaff member. PEDs may not be used for any communication, including phone calls or textmessages, or for taking photographs/video unless a teacher or staff memberprovides permission to do so. Students need to be diligent about safely storing their PEDs. Centennial is notresponsible for lost, stolen and/or damaged PEDs. Use good judgment when accessing material on the Internet and reportsuspicious concerns to a teacher immediately. Create, display, use and store images, videos appropriately whiledemonstrating respect. Posting photos and/or images on the Internet without teacher/parentpermission violates the Code of Conduct. Users should not expect privacy with regards to any of their activities whenusing the Board’s technology resources. When using listening devices, volume must be appropriate, with oneearphone out.6

Lunchroom Expectations1. Students must remain in their assigned lunch location for the duration oflunch.2. All students are expected to clean up after themselves. Garbage andrecycle bins should be used appropriately and spills or other messes arealso to be cleaned up.3. Students can use the washroom with permission and must have a hall pass.4. Students should not be using their devices during the lunch hour unless theyhave permission from a teacher and are being directly supervised by thatteacher. Devices that are being used inappropriately or without permissioncan be confiscated and sent to the office to be picked up later by thestudent or a parent.5. Students are to remain seated in a chair and use indoor voices during lunchand during indoor lunch recess.6. Students are permitted to leave school for lunch, students only with a notewritten by a parent that includes: the date, where the child is going, and theparent’s signature. This note must be presented to the homeroom teacherand the office. Students must sign out at the office both when they leaveand sign-in upon their return.7. Students are permitted to access their lockers at the start of lunch recesswhen going outdoors, when they come in from recess to eat their lunch andat the end of lunch to return their belongings before going to their period 5class.7
