TERRACOTTA TILESMeaning ‘baked earth’ in Italian, terracotta, as the name suggests,is a natural clay product that has been used throughout the agesfor protection against the elements. Boral terracotta tiles aremanufactured using select clays that are kiln-fired to temperaturesof 1100 C, resulting in a strong-yet-lightweight roofing material ofexceptional quality that is long lasting. The outstanding colour performance is achieved through the firingprocess known as vitrification. Clay and glaze materials fired at hightemperatures melt and fuse together resulting in a finished tile resistantto harsh UV exposure.7
