The document is a productof NCBFAA, drafted in consultation with NHTSA. It is not intended to cover all specificscenarios. Please refer to the NHTSA Supplemental Guide to the CBP and TradeAutomated Interface Requirements (CATAIR) for information on how to report. Thedocument is not an official statement of the Federal government and does not createany requirements, rather it explains what information is input in accordance with theCBP pilots for NHTSA under CBP’s National Customs Automation Program.The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is an agency of the U.S.Department of Transportation (DOT). NHTSA’s mission is to save lives, prevent injuries,and reduce traffic-related health care and other economic costs. The agencydevelops and enforces the Federal motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS), whichestablish minimum safety performance requirements for motor vehicles and for certainitems of motor vehicle equipment.
