MARBLE’S EASTER OFFERINGMarble’s Easter Offering has supported the work of PoorPeople’s Campaign.* Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr. said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” PoorPeople’s Campaign embodies these words in the intentionalactions they take to raise awareness and to drive policies thatseek to bring justice to communities that have been severelyunderserved. Whenever they raise their voices, it is under theumbrella of the phrase “A National Call for Moral Revival.”Furthermore they have said,“We rise together because:1. We rise to demand that the 140 million poor and low-income people in our nation— from every race, creed, color, sexuality and place — are no longer ignored, dismissed or pushed to the margins of our political and social agenda.2. We rise not as left or right, Democrat or Republican, but as a moral fusionmovement to build power, build moral activism, build voter participation, and wewon’t be silent any more!3. We rise to change the moral narrative and demand that the interlocking injusticesof systemic racism, poverty, ecological devastation, the war economy/militarismand the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism all be ended.4. We rise to challenge the lie of scarcity in the midst of abundance.5. We rise to lift the voices and faces of poor and low-income Americans and theirmoral allies with a new vision of love, justice, and truth for America that sayspoverty can be abolished and change can come.”Poor People’s Campaign calls everyone to join them in their movement as Jesus calls usto follow him and raise our voices to effect justice on behalf of others who may not be ableto do so by themselves. This year, as Marble has done for decades, we will take up an Easter Offering onEaster Sunday, although you can give at any time. Our goal is to raise 220,000,100% of which will support organizations like Poor People’s Campaign.
