OverviewTarget AudienceThe program is designed for clinical radiologists in either general or specialized practice, and is appropriate for radiologists in training.Familiarity with the fundamentals of CT, MR,PET, and US technology and applications, aswell as basic anatomy, is assumed.Statement of Need/Course DescriptionThe 34th Annual “Morton A. Bosniak Head toToe Imaging Conference” offers an intensive5 day program reviewing Neurologic, Musculoskeletal, Pediatric, Abdominal, Thoracic,Cardiac, Breast, Emergency, PET/ CT andInterventional Radiology. This year, throughoutthe course, there will be lectures and workshops addressing the constant dilemma of‘how to manage the unexpected finding—theincidentaloma’. There will be a continuedfocus on safety and quality issues, includingradiation exposure and contrast reactions andtheir management, crossing all sub specialtyareas. Due to tremendous growth in the science of imaging and practice of radiology, it isimperative for radiologists to continually updatetheir skills and gain exposure to advances inthe field. Maintenance of certification requirescontinued review and adoption of essential andcutting edge imaging techniques in all modalities, covering the entire body. We offer dailySelf-Assessment Modules (SAMs) with SAMscredit in key areas with recent clinical advances. In addition, comparative effectiveness research,as it applies to imaging, will be incorporatedLearning Objectivesthroughout the course, allowing immediateapplication to clinical practice, with an eyetowards quality, safety, and the trend towards‘accountable care organizations’. Utilization ofstandardized imaging strategies, developed bycollaborative teams of imagers and clinicians,is a growing trend with both safety, quality, economic imperatives, that will be emphasized. An innovative feature of this course is thatindividual sections of the program can beattended on a daily basis, allowing coursecontent to be tailored to the unique interestsand requirements of each registrant. The purpose of this course is to provide the registrantwith an overview of state-of-the-art imagingmethods as they pertain to clinical practice, and to introduce advances in the field in termsof imaging technology and disease diagnosisand management. The course is designed to examine the practical aspects of established CT, MR, US, PET andInterventional techniques, as well as to introduce new techniques and applications for thesemodalities. Plenary sessions and workshopshave been structured to review pathologicprocesses and image interpretation, and toupdate the registrant on advanced applicationsand image analysis. After participating in this activity, clinicians should be able to: Evaluate and incorporate current imagingtechniques and protocols for sub specialtyimaging (Abdominal, Musculoskeletal, Neurologic, Thoracic, Cardiac, Breast, PET/CT,Emergency Medicine, Interventional) intoclinical practice to enable accurate diagnosis, dictate best therapy options, and assessresponse to therapy, which may prompttherapy modification as needed. Describe the latest lung cancer CT screeningprocess, including appropriate CT dose settingsand structured reporting and management. Develop strategies to optimize and incorporate a gamut of studies, including CT, MR andPET, in order to accurately stage neoplasmswith minimal cost and radiation exposure. Describe how Digital Breast Tomosynthesis(DBT) can be used to help increase breastcancer detection, while decreasing “falsepositive” recalls. Develop a strategy for their patients to optimize radiation safety and dose reductionthrough optimizing CT protocols and techniques, as well as utilizing MR imaging inappropriate patient population.Course FormatThe course runs for 5 days, with a combinationof didactic lectures and interactive workshopsdaily. Pre-registration for workshops is notrequired, with the exception of the Tuesday,Thoracic Read with the Experts Session. Pleasesee the schedule for more information regarding this workshop. Attendance of the entirecourse will provide a comprehensive imagingreview, including advanced and cutting edgetechniques. Registrants may choose to enrollin any combination of individual course days, thereby creating a unique course content tailored to an individual’s distinct interests.3DAY 1: Abdominal Imaging & Emergency ImagingDAY 2: Thoracic Imaging & Cardiac ImagingDAY 3: Neuroradiology & Pediatric ImagingDAY 4: M usculoskeletal Imaging &Interventional ImagingDAY 5: Breast Imaging & PET Imaging
