PASTOR’S PAGEMarch 2021“In the morning, while it was still very dark, Jesus got up and went out to adeserted place, and there he prayed. And Simon and his companions huntedfor him. When they found him, they said to him, “Everyone is searching foryou.” He answered, “Let us go on to the neighboring towns, so that I may proclaim the message there also; for that is what I came out to do.” And he wentthroughout Galilee, proclaiming the message in their synagogues and castingout demons.”Mark 1:35-39Though I never reached the lofty heights of being a Boy Scout, I was raisedby my parents to always “be prepared.” It is one of the reasons I’m also superearly to everything: you never know when a semi-truck will block your route toyour destination, causing you to go 20 minutes out of your way to get you whereyou are going. Or why I get to church on Sunday at 5am. Do I need to be therethat early? No. I’ve done worship getting there from a plane ride only 20minutes before. But I feel better when I’m here early, making sure everything isready and prepared. It is why I often pack for my trips a week in advance: youcan never be prepared enough.I thought of preparedness in this reading from the Gospel of Mark. Thisshort reading seems pretty simple but it can tell us a lot about how to be prepared in life. Just prior to these verses, Jesus had done a bunch of healing atPeter’s house. The next morning, Jesus gets up to go pray and the disciples notonly look for him, but hunt for him. They WANT to find him, badly. They tellhim everyone is looking for him and once Jesus is found, he proclaims that theywill go traveling and doing ministry throughout Galilee, preaching and healing. But before they go, what has Jesus done? Jesus has prayed. Jesus has spenttime with his heavenly Father in prayer, getting ready for what is going to comenext. Jesus takes a moment to prepare himself for the work before him. This is alesson for us in this Lenten season to take a moment every day and prepare forwhat is to come in our daily lives. Sure, we need to get the kids together, get ourthings ready to go for work, make sure everything is set. But we should also takea moment or two to pray, to ask the Lord to guide us and be with us in the dayahead. To try to take a moment to acknowledge the important role that the Lordwill take in that day, guiding us, strengthening us, and walking with us no matter what the day may bring. We have all said a prayer or two before something has happened, to prepare ourselves. But we often do that only in the big moments or when the moment could be scary. What if we did it every day? What if we prepared for ourday every day by taking a moment to talk with our loving God? I do this but itdoesn’t come naturally to me. I have to be intentional about it and by takingthat moment it has helped to calm me down and put into focus what the daywill bring.Let this time of Lent be a chance for you to intentionally prepare yourselffor whatever the day may bring with some time in prayer. Let your conversationwith your Savior be something that calms a troubled spirit, give guidance foryour life, and remind you that you do not face the day alone. Your Savior is withyou. Always. For that we can say, “Thanks be to God!”2Yours in Christ,PBINSIDE THIS ISSUECover Page . .1Pastor Page . .2Youth Page . .3March Worship . . .4Lent Worship . .4Holy Week . . .5Events/Thanks . . .5WOT . . . .6Pastorial Acts/Prayers . .7Volunteers . . .7Memorials/Order Form .8Financial Page . . . 9Kid’s Page . 10Coloring Page . . .11Craft/Vendor Form . .12POINTS OF INTEREST Silent AuctionVBSLuther Park CampMarch WorshipLent Worship SeriesHoly Week ScheduleThank YouVolunteersPrayer ConcernsBlood Mobile at TrinityCraft/Vendor Sale InfoMemorialsFinancialsLeadership DirectoryKid’s Fun PagesEaster Flower Order Form

WOMEN OF TRINITYWomen of TrinityIt's hard to believe that we are beginning the Lent season already. Along with just about everythingelse, it will be a lot different in our church this year. I do find great joy that we are actually going to beable to have in-person services for Lent.I wonder what the Easter services will look like? As much as I love the Christmas Eve service the Easter Sunrise service is my favorite. I get chills just thinking of the excitement of that service. The lightscoming on, trumpets playing, timpani drum beating and the Pastor's loud voice saying “Alleluia, Hehas Risen”. The hymn, Christ the Lord Is Risen Today, being sung by the congregation. The parade ofpeople bringing in all of the items to place back in the altar area and all of the Easter lillies to beautifyour church. I bet there are plenty of you that have the same feelings as I do. Whatever our Easter service ends up being I know that Pastor Brad will somehow get the message to us that Jesus Christ hasRisen.March 5th is World Day of Prayer. I have to admit that I really wasn't quite sure what this day was other than I knew that there was prayer said around the world. I thought I would look into it and passalong what I found in case some of you were also wondering.World Day of Prayer is a worldwide, ecumenical movement of Christian women of many traditionswho come together to observe a common day of prayer each year, and who, in many countries, have acontinuing relationship in prayer and service. It is initiated and carried out by women in more than 170 countries and regions. It is symbolized by an annual day of celebration observed on the first Friday in March to which allpeople are welcome. It brings women of different races, cultures and traditions together in fellowship, understandingand action throughout the year.Through World Day of Prayer, women affirm that prayer and action are inseparable and have immeasurable influence in the world. The motto of World Day of Prayer is ”Informed Prayer and Prayerful Action”.Taken from World Day of Prayer USA wdp-usa.orgThe only piece of information I have to pass along with you is that we are going ahead with the planning of the October craft sale. Kathy Hanson will be taking over the lead on this event but PeggySchutz will be there to pass along all of the wisdom she has learned over the years. We feel that it isbetter to start planning and be ready rather than waiting to see what happens and then be too late tobe able to have it. I'm not sure what kind of help Kathy will be needing but I encourage you to say yesif Kathy asks for help.As I write this, it is the coldest day so far this year, but I know by the time you read this we will bethrough this cold spell and looking forward to spring!!Sandy Wheeler6JOHN 14:17

In fact, the word Lent comes from the Anglo-Saxon words lenctentid (meaning “March”) and lencten(meaning “spring”). The first reference to Lent dates back to 325 AD, in one of the 20 canons decreed at the council of Nicaea. By the eighth century, Christians started observing Lent, and a 10thcentury monk named Aelfric connected the use of ashes and “the Lenten fast” to the pre-Easter period. Lent lasts 40 days to represent Jesus’ time in the wilderness, when he was tempted by the devil. The six Sundays that occur between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday aren’t counted as part of9 Lent; instead, as the traditional day of worship, they’re considered “mini-Easters.”
