MCGRAW-HILL WONDERSFlexible Pacing GuidesWonders is a comprehensive, research-based English Language Arts programthat integrates several key processes and skills: text comprehension, speakingand listening, phonological awareness, phonics and word recognition,fluency, vocabulary and language, conventions of English, and writing. Theorganization of the instruction in Wonders gives you the flexibility to makemeaningful decisions on how to focus your teaching each day within a givenweek or genre study to best meet the needs of your students.The Flexible Pacing Guides provided on pages 3–58 identify suggested pacingfor the core path of instruction using the Wonders Teacher’s Editions, as wellpacing for the optional lessons from which you might choose.Specific small group lessons are provided for each week or genre study, butany lesson can be adapted for small group instruction, as needed. WONDERS GRADE KSUGGESTED 120-MINUTE PACING GUIDEKindergarten Wonders provides for 180 days of instruction, allowing for theflexibility needed to address the needs of the students in your classroom.Kindergarten begins with 3 weeks of Start Smart to introduce instructionalroutines, followed by 10 units of instruction, focused on a particular topic ortheme, approximately 3 weeks long.
