In this handbook, you will find information about Institute of Technology Australia’spolicies and procedures, together with forms and documents that you may need to refer to and/or complete.If you have any suggestions on how we can improve our Policies and Procedures, please complete an “Opportunity forImprovement” form and submit to the RTO Manager.We sincerely hope your time at Institute of Technology Australia is a memorable and productive learning experience.If you require any assistance with understanding these Policies and Procedures, please do not hesitate to ask yourtrainer for assistance, who can explain the process further.2STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCTAll students studying with Institute of Technology Australia are responsible for managing their own conduct whilststudying with the Institute. Students who do not adhere to the Student Code of Conduct policy and procedure putthemselves at risk of Intent to Report the student to the Department of Home Affairs that they are in breach of theirVisa requirements. Institute of Technology Australia takes Student Misconduct seriously and will act if it has come toour attention that a student has intentionally acted against our Academic Conduct Policy and Procedure.2.1 Student Respon sibilities - VETa)Students must satisfy entry requirements for course of enrolment.b) If a student is deemed not yet competent on completion of training, they will be offered an opportunity to bereassessed. If a student is deemed not yet competent a second time, they will be given a third and finalopportunity for reassessment.c)If a student is required to be reassessed at any time, they will be provided with further guidance from their trainerprior to reassessment.d) If after three attempts the student is deemed competent in some but not all the units of competencies required, aStatement of Attainment will be issued.e)All students will undergo an induction with the Institute, which will include the student’s rights and responsibilitiesagainst the relevant Australian Commonwealth, State or Territory legislation and regulatory requirements.f)Students are issued with a Student Handbook & International Student Handbook, which includes the Student’srights and responsibilities that will affect their participation in training.g)The student acknowledges that they must observe the Institute’s policies and procedures, according to State andFederal Government legislative and regulatory requirements and the Student Visa requirements, as set out in theStudent Handbook and the International Student Handbook.2.2 Student Responsibilities – ELICOSa)Students will be required to meet a minimum Pass Mark to receive a Certificate of Completion for ELICOS coursesas follows:b) General English - 60% or no less than 50% for each skillc)English for Academic Purposes (EAP) – 55% or aboved) Students must attend a minimum of 80% (or above) of their course to meet the minimum course requirementsInternational Student Handbook 27-Aug-18 Page 4 of 54
