(B)DAHigh Pressure HoseB–– This is the only hose with steel connectors crimped onboth ends.–– One end connects to the control valve (sealed withteflon tape).–– Other end connects to the top of the pump (sealed byO-Ring).–– Because of the male/female ends, this hose only fitsthe correct way.Suction Hose–– This is the clear hose that connects the hydraulic tankto the pump inlet.–– Both ends of the hose are secured with hose clamps.NOTEOil Return Hose–– This hose returns the oil exiting the cylinder to the tank–– It has no connectors crimped onto it.–– The hose ends push over barbed fittings on the controlvalve and the oil filter.–– Both ends are secured with hose clamps.–– Notice how the hose is placed through the retainerring on the beam. This holds the hose close to theframe so it does not flop out beyond the wheels (andcatch on things while towing). The swivel nut end of the high pressure hoseconnects to the pump outlet.NOTEThe pump outlet connection does NOT require teflontape. The o-ring seals against the face of the fittings onthe pump and hose. Tighten to approximately 12 ft-lb.Over-tightening can damage the pump.4. Connect one end of the clear oil hose to the hydraulicoil tank just beneath the engine and the other end tothe pump inlet on the bottom of the pump. (C)C7) Install the Log Catchers1. ENGLISH 100251AssemblyAdd Engine OilCAUTIONDO NOT attempt to crank or start the engine beforeit has been properly filled with the recommendedtype and amount of oil. Damage to the engine as aresult of failure to follow these instructions will voidyour warranty.NOTEThe recommended oil type is 10W-30 automotive oil.1. Place the log splitter on a flat, level surface.2. Remove oil fill cap/dipstick to add oil.3. Using a funnel add up to 0.6 qt. (0.6 L) of oil andreplace oil fill cap/dipstick. DO NOT OVERFILL.4. Check engine oil level daily and add as needed.NOTEAdd Engine Oil Cont’d.CAUTIONThe engine is equipped with a low oil shut-offsensor and will stop when the oil level in thecrankcase falls below the threshold level.NOTEWe consider the first 5 hours of run time to be thebreak-in period for the engine. During the break inperiod we recommend using standard automotivenon-synthetic blended oils. After the break inperiod synthetic lubricant can be used but is notrequired. Adjusting throttle setting will increase/decrease engine speed helping to seat pistonrings. Avoid bogging or lugging the engine downand avoid prolonged running at constant RPM.After the 5 hour break-in period, change the oil.Using synthetic lubricants does not increase therecommended oil change interval.Once oil has been added, a visual check should showoil about 1-2 threads from running out of the fill hole.If using the dipstick to check oil level, DO NOT screwin the dipstick while checking.Degrees Celsiusº (Outside)Full Synthetic 5W-30Degrees Fahrenheitº (Outside)NOTECheck oil often during the break-in period. Refer to theMaintenance section for recommended service intervals.11NOTEWeather will affect engine oil and engineperformance. Change the type of engine oil usedbased on weather conditions to suit the engineneeds.

100251 ENGLISHAdd Fuel1. Use clean, fresh, regular unleaded fuel with aminimum octane rating of 85 and an ethanolcontent of less than 10% by volume.2. DO NOT mix oil with fuel.3. Clean the area around the fuel cap.4. Remove the fuel cap.5. Slowly add fuel to the tank. DO NOT OVERFILL.Fuel can expand after filling. A minimum of¼ in. (6.4 mm) of space left in the tank is requiredfor fuel expansion, more than ¼ in. (6.4 mm) isrecommended. Fuel can be forced out of the tankas a result of expansion if it is overfilled, and canaffect the stable running condition of the product. When filling the tank, it is recommended to leaveenough space for the fuel to expand.AssemblyAdd Fuel Cont’d.CAUTIONUse regular unleaded gasoline with a minimumoctane rating of 85.Do not mix oil and gasoline.Fill tank to approximately ¼ in. (6.4 mm) below thetop of the tank to allow for fuel expansion.DO NOT pump gas directly into the tank at the gasstation. Use an approved container to transfer thefuel to the tank.DO NOT fill fuel tank indoors.DO NOT fill fuel tank when the engine is running or hot.DO NOT overfill the fuel tank.DO NOT light cigarettes or smoke when filling thefuel tank.NOTE6. Screw on the fuel cap and wipe away any spilledfuel.WARNINGPouring fuel too fast through the fuel screen mayresult in blow back of fuel at the operator whilefilling. Our engines work well with 10% or less ethanolblend fuels. When using blended fuels there aresome issues worth noting:–– Ethanol-gasoline blends can absorb more waterthan gasoline alone.–– These blends can eventually separate, leavingwater or a watery goo in the tank, fuel valve andcarburetor.–– With gravity-fed fuel supplies, this compromisedfuel can be drawn into the carburetor and causedamage to the engine and/or potential hazards.–– There are only a few suppliers of fuel stabilizerthat are formulated to work with ethanol blendfuels.–– Any damages or hazards caused by usingimproper fuel, improperly stored fuel, and/or improperly formulated stabilizers, are notcovered by manufacture’s warranty. It is advisable to always shut off the fuel supply, run the engine to fuel starvation and drain the tankwhen the equipment is not in use for more than 30days.12

ENGLISH 100251AssemblyAdd Hydraulic Oil1. Make sure the log splitter is on a flat, level surface.2. Remove the oil plug from the oil tank. (A)3. Add 4 gal. (15.1 L) of hydraulic oil - seespecification section for types of acceptable oil.4. Check the hydraulic oil level using the oil sightglass. Oil level should visibly fill the glass sigh

Make certain that the log splitter is resting firmly on level ground . When operating the log splitter: DO NOT move or tip the log splitter during operation . DO NOT tip the log splitter or allow fuel or oil to spill from the engine . Block the wheel
