The color is green.5th Chakra Throat ChakraVishuddha is located in the center of the neck and is the centerof communication. It is involved with speaking yourtruth. Itis about standing up for whatyou believe in and is linked topersonal integrity and a sense ofhonor. It is the first of the spiritual chakras. It governs thethyroid and parathyroid. Iliked to neverwalk again!The gastrocnemiusand soleus aretwo musclesthat form thecalf muscle.There is actually a thirdmuscle calledthe plantarismuscle whichis a thin, smallmuscle extending 2-4”down from the knee andlies between the gastrocnemius and soleus.However, this muscle is noteven present in 10-20% of thepopulation.The gastrocnemius runs theentire length of the lower leg, itis the larger of the two posterior muscles of the calf. It originates at the back of the femur,behind the knee and the kneecap or patella. It attaches at theAchilles tendon at the heel orcalcaneus. The gastrocnemiusbranches at the top behind theknee into a medial and a lateralhead. It crosses at the kneejoint and its action is responsible for knee flexion, along withthe 3 hamstring muscles. It alsocrosses at the ankle joint whereit is responsible for actionssuch as pointing the toes andmoving the sole of the footposteriorly. Basically the gastrocnemius bends the knee andflexes the foot.The soleus is the flat musclethat lies underneath the gastrocnemius, and also runs frombehind the knee to the calcaneus. It originates at the fibula andinserts at the heel. It is involvedwith plantar flexion, standing,walking and keeping balance.The soleus is also called theskeletal muscle pump in that ithelps with pumping venousblood back up to the heart fromthe periphery.Avid runners, dancers, weightlifters may have extremely tightcalf muscles. Clients who climbladders or have plantar fasciitis,an inflammation of the tissuethat connects the heel bone tothe toes, will find relief by massaging the gastrocnemius andthe soleus. And because the calfmuscles connection to the knee,any knee problems should beaddressed via gastrocnemius.
