March 20 19 NEWSLETTE RJesusHealing!IS OURA CONVERSATIONWITH BILL JOHNSONTBN’S PASTOR Dpage 1page 5MY STORYpage 6

Watch more of this interview at watch.tbn.tv/videos/praise-324Sometimes it feels likethe end game of Christians isto develop a great church, butthat’s just really the preparation place. We have to go andtransform the world we live in.MATTa conversation withBILL JOHNSONChurch is just an equipping place, and the transformation takes place outside ofit. The culture of those citiesin our country that have thegreatest church attendance aretragically the least transformed(when you look at divorce rates, crime, and all of those socialstatistics). It’s not because thereare so many people in church. Those people are changed, but their impact around themstops because they think thatchurch is the end game. Wemust realize that we are beingequipped to take what weexperience in church, outsidethe four walls of the church. We bring transformation.BILLYour new book, TheWay of Life, is what we aretalking about. Would youopen the door to what we aregoing to be breaking down?MATTThe way of life is this—God’s intention is to influencethe nature of this world until itreflects the nature of His world. That is our assignment. Jesustold us to pray specifically forheaven on earth. He told us topray for the will of God to bedone here as it is in heaven. That has to be measurable, orwe won’t be encouraged byseeing our prayers answered. In John 16 He said you will askthe Father in My name and Hewill give you whatever you ask, that your joy may be full. Thefull expression of joy is supposed to come from our co-laboring relationship with Godas we see His will done here.Bill Johnson praying andministering at Bethel ChurchBILLMATT When I read the book, one part—chapter 9, entitled Jesus: Unafraid of theSecular—was really spectacular to me. Share what you aretalking about in that chapter.God anointed enemynations to care for the PromisedLand, to take care of it untilIsrael was prepared to inheritit. Outside of His own chosenpeople, God used the talent ofthose nations to care for andBILLbuild up the land thatHis people wouldinherit. In the same way,the Lord has a habit ofdepositing ideas in thesecular culture that are supposed to be used by the church. For example, the word apostlewas developed by the Greeksand borrowed by the Romans. An apostle was the lead shipin an armada that would go toa newly conquered area andbring transformation througheducation, architecture, language, and all of those things. They would make it accuratelyrepresent the land they represented. If their emperor wouldever visit this newly conqueredland, they would feel as at homethere as they did in Rome.1I want people to know there is hopedespite the situation. God is notnervous about anything. There isalways an answer. —Bill JohnsonStaying with chapter9. Share more about thesecular term for church. Thisone is really mind boggling.MATTBill preaching at Bethel ChurchWhat I long for is for us toexperience, in a practical way,the reality of heaven here.In heaven, everything is connected to the presence of God,Himself. —Bill Johnsonterm that described a corporate gathering or a temple ora synagogue, but in this case,He was describing His people in their transformationalrole. Whenever two or threeare gathered and they makethat commitment togetherin prayer to a task, they arerepresenting heaven to establish God’s order and influencein that secular environment. If someone gets yourbook, what will they learn thatmay be fairly new to them?MATTWhat I long for is for us toexperience, in a practical way,the reality of heaven here. Inheaven, everything is connectedto the presence of God, Himself. There are no shadows in heaven, because He is everywhere atonce, shining at the same time,so that tells me that the cultureof heaven is a presence-basedculture. In the presence of Godare the solutions and answersfor every dilemma that we face.BILLOn earth asit is in heaven.MATTYes, we want God to feelas at home here as He does inheaven, because the culture haschanged here to accommodateHis presence and to live entirelyfor Him. The Romans startedusing this concept to transformthe culture so it would be anaccurate and healthy representation of Rome itself. This ideahelps me to better understandwhat Jesus meant when He toldus to pray “Thy will be done.”BILLSending the hope and grace of Jesus to the world! The word is ecclesia. When Jesus said I will build mychurch, He used that term—ecclesia. It means wherevertwo or three are gathered, theycarry governmental influence. It’s a secular term referring toan institution that is plantedwithin society to bring aboutchange through that governmental representation. It givesgreat insight to what Jesusmeant when He said “wheretwo or three are gathered inMy name, there I am in theirmidst.” He could have used aBILLWhat kind of transformation do you want tohappen from this book?MATT2I want people to knowthere is hope despite the situation. God is not nervousabout anything. There is alwaysan answer. There is a divinepurpose for every part of ourlives. My big dream is for therenewing of the mind. I wantus to learn to think the waythat Jesus thought. The goalisn’t to learn a principle so I canduplicate the last miracle. It’s tolearn the voice so I can respondto what He’s saying now. That is a relational journey.BILLLAURIE You talk about theKingdom being inside of us,and a lot of people don’tfeel that. They don’t havepeace in the storm. How dowe help those people?Everything we think anddo comes from love or fear. Ifthere’s no realization of presence, then fear is operating. It’sone of the two. At some point,we must believe what Godsaid in His Word is absolutelytrue. He revealed Himself asEmmanuel—God with us. I canbe empowered and directed byHim. For every situation »BILL

NEW THIS SPRINGTHIS MONTH INCHRISTIANHISTORYON YOURthat exists on the planet, He has a solution. My cry is that the Lord would giveus a renewed mind. The renewed mindproves the will of God which is good, acceptable, and perfect. It’s thinking differently that enables us to demonstrate thereality of His world in this one.FULFILLING THEGreat CommissionA Prayer from Pastor Bill:Father, I ask that the presence and power of theSpirit of God would come upon every person thathears this—that there would be such a deep andprofound encounter with You, that we wouldbecome mindful of You and of Your heart. Thatwe would be contagious in our hope for situationsthat used to intimidate us, but now we subjectthem to Your purposes and look at them with greattriumph and great victory, knowing that You havealready accomplished everything that is necessaryto become victorious. In Jesus’ name, I pray thatthere would be clarity of thought and mind. Ineverything and every place that we are in life, Ipray that You would capture the purpose of thosemoments and that we could give them as offeringsto You. We look for You to come and for the fire ofYour presence to fall upon the offering that we giveYou so that every place of employment becomes aplace of habitation—a place where Your presence,Your power, Your glory is manifest in the earth. Letthe reality of the Old Testament Promised Landshape how we think, how we approach abundance, how we approach the purpose that we arealive. And for all this we say, Jesus be glorified andexalted in everything we are and everything we do.Bethel Coming toTBN WeeklyWe hope you are inspired by the wisdom andinsights of Bill Johnson in this issue.
