Installing the SIM and battery1 Remove the battery coverSlide the battery cover towards thebottom of the phone and awayfrom it.WARNING: Do not use yourfingernail to remove the battery.WARNING: Do not removethe battery when the phone isswitched on, as this may damagethe phone.2 Install the SIM cardSlide the SIM card into the SIM cardholder making sure that the goldcontact area on the card is facingdownwards. Please make sure thebattery is removed from the phonebefore installing the SIM card. Toremove the SIM card, pull it gentlyoutwards.8LG GM360 User Guide3 Install the batteryInsert the left side of the batteryinto the top edge of the batterycompartment first.Ensure that the battery contactsalign with the phone’s terminals.Press the right side of the batteryuntil down it clicks into place.

Charging your phoneRemove the charger socket coveron the side of your GM360. Connectthe Travel Adapter (Charger) and theincluded USB cable. Connect the USBcable into the phone and plug it intoa power socket. Your GM360 mustbe charged until the “Battery full“message appears on the screen.NOTE: The battery must be fullycharged initially to improve batterylifetime. Disregard the first “Batteryfull” message and keep the phone oncharge overnight.9

Memory cardInstalling a memory cardYou can expand the memory spaceon your phone by using a MicroSDmemory card.NOTE: A memory card is an optionalaccessory.1 Open the microSD card slot coveron the left-hand edge of thephone.2 Slide the microSD card into theslot until it clicks into place. Makesure the gold contact area is facingdownwards.10LG GM360 User GuideFormatting the memory cardYour memory card may already beformatted. If it isn’t, you will need toformat it before you can start to use it.1 From the Home screen select,then Phone settings in SETTINGStab.2 Touch Memory info then chooseExternal memory.3 Touch Format and then confirmyour choice.4 Enter the password, if one is set.Your card will then be formattedand ready to use.NOTE: If there is existing contenton your memory card, the folderstructure may be different afterformatting since all files will havebeen deleted.

Using your touch screenTouch screen tips To select an item, touch the centreof the icon. Do not press too hard. Thetouchscreen is sensitive enough topick up a light, firm touch. Use the tip of your finger to touchthe option you require. Be carefulnot to touch any other keys. Whenever your GM360 is not in use,it will return to the lock screen.Opening ApplicationsTo open any application, simply touchits icon.Control the touch screenThe controls on the GM360touch screen change dynamicallydepending on the task you arecarrying out.ScrollingDrag from side to side to scroll. Onsome screens, such as the call historylist, you can also scroll up or down.11

Using your touch screenLock screen gestureLock screen gesture - set a gesture tothe 9 extended shortcut applications.Gesture in Lock screen allows usersto unlock the phone and execute theapplications directly as they draw agesture on the screen.To set up this feature,1 Select- Screen settings - Lockscreen gesture2 Drag & drop the prefered gesturefrom the bottom of the screen tothe applications you want to assignthem to.TIP! Your home screenYou can drag and click what you need right away in all home screen types.ActiveActiveWidget homescreen - When youon thetouchbottom right of thescreen, the mobilewidget panelappears. When youregister widget bydragging it, thewidget is createdin the spot where itwas dropped.Speed dial homescreen - Whenyou touch, the speed diallist appears. Youcan call, senda message oredit the contactdirectly in thishome screen.ActiveLivesquare home screen - On theLivesquare screen, You can easilymake a call and send a message tothe number allocated to an avatar. Touse the call, messaging or contactsfunction, select an avatar and choosethe Quick key icon you want to use.TIP! The User Interface is based on three types of Homescreen. To swap betweenthe home screens just wipe quickly over the display from left to right, or fromright to left.13

Your home screenThe quick keysThe quick keys on your home screen provide easy, one-touch access to thefunctions you use the most.Touch to bring up the touchdialling pad to make a call.Touch to open your Contacts.To search for the numberyou want to call, enter thename of the contact at thetop of the screen usingthe touchpad. You can alsocreate new contacts and editexisting ones.Touch to access theMessaging menu. Here you can set the Profiletype, play/pause MP3s and activate/deactivate Bluetooth.Using the Multi-taskingfunctionPress the multi-tasking hard keyto open the Multitasking menu. CallsMaking a call1 Touchto open the keypad.2 Key in the number using thekeypad.3 Touchto initiate the call.4 To end the call, press the Smart key.TIP! To enter for makingan international call, press and.holdTIP! Press the power key to lock thetouchscreen to prevent calls beingmade by mistake.Making a call from yourcontacts1 From the home screen touchto open the Contacts.2 Tap the Name field box on the topof the screen and enter the first fewletters of the contact you wouldlike to call using the keypad.3 From the filtered list, touch the Callicon next to the contact you wantto call. The call will use the defaultnumber if there is more than onefor that contact.4 Or, you can touch the contactname and select the number touse if there is more than one forthat contact to use. You can alsotouchto initiate the call to thedefault number.Answering and rejecting a callWhen your phone rings, touch theSmart key to answer the call.To mute the ringing, slide up thecover. This will unlock the phone if itis locked, then tap. This is usefulif you forgot to change your profileto Silent for a meeting. Touchtoreject an incoming call.17

This functionalso allows you to navigate menuswith numbered options when you dialautomated telephone services, such ascall centres.TIP! Speed diallingMaking a second callYou can assign a frequently-calledcontact to a speed dial number.1 Select Contacts in theCOMMUNICATION tab and selectSpeed dials.2 Your voicemail is already set tospeed dial 1. You cannot changethis. Touch any other number toassign it a speed dial contact.3 Your Contacts will open. Select thecontact you want to assign to thatnumber by touching their phonenumber once. To find a contact,tap the Name field box and enterthe first letter of the name of thecontact required.1 During your initial call, touchand type the number you want tocall.2 Touchto connect the call.3 Both calls will be displayed on thecall screen. Your initial call will belocked and the caller put on hold.4 To change between the calls, touchor press the number of theheld call.5 To end one or both calls pressand select End followed by All,Held or Active.TIP! Touch any single call log entryto view the date, time and durationof the call.NOTE: You will be charged for eachcall you make.Viewing your call logsTouch Recent history in theCOMMUNICATION tab.TIP! ContactsSave to change the setting.Send my number - Choosewhether your number will bedisplayed when you call someone.Auto redial - Slide the switch leftfor ON or right for OFF.Answer mode - Choose whether toanswer the phone using the sendkey or any key.Minute minder - Slide the switchleft to ON to hear a tone everyminute during a call.BT answer mode - Select Handsfree to be able to answer a callusing a Bluetooth headset, or selectHandset to press a key on thehandset to answer a call.Save new number - Select Yes tosave a new number.Searching for a contactThere are two ways to search for acontact:1 Touch Contacts in theCOMMUNICATION tab.2 Touch Search.3 You see a list of contacts. Typing inthe first letter of a contact’s namein the Name field will jump themenu to that alphabetical area ofthe list.TIP! The alphabetical keypad isdisplayed once you tap the Namefield.Adding a new contact1 Touch Contacts in theCOMMUNICATION tab and touchAdd contact.2 Choose whether to save thecontact to your Handset or SIM.3 Enter your first and last name.4 You can enter up to five differentnumbers per contact. Each entryhas a preset type Mobile, Home,Office, Pager and Fax.5 Add an email addresses. You canenter up to two different emailaddresses per contact.21

Contacts6 Assign the contact to one or moregroups. You can assign up tothree groups per contact. Choosebetween No group, Family,Friends, Colleagues, School or VIP.7 You can also add a Ringtone,Birthday, Anniversary, Homepage,Home address, Company name,Job title, Company address, Memoand Livecon.8 Touch Save to save the contact.TIP! Birthday widget can be.accessed by selecting the iconIt displays upcoming birthdayschronologically for the month bytaking birthdays that are saved inContacts. This widget also facilitatescommunication to a contact thathas birthday by allowing featuressuch as Call, Messaging and Email.Creating a group1 Touch Contacts in theCOMMUNICATION tab. They willremain in your Contacts.Changing your contactsettingsYou can adapt your contact settingsso that your Contacts suits your ownpreferences.1 Touch Contacts in theCOMMUNICATION tab and touchSettings.2 From here, you can adjust thefollowing settings:Contact list settings - Adjust theContacts location, Name displayand Quick command key settings.Copy - Copy your contacts fromyour handset to your SIM or fromyour SIM to your handset. You canchoose one at a time, or all at once.Move - This works in the same wayas Copy, but the contact will onlybe saved to the location you’vemoved it to.

Send all contacts via Bluetooth Send all of your contacts to anotherdevice using Bluetooth. You will beprompted to turn on Bluetooth ifyou select this option.Backup contacts - See Backing upand restoring the information onyour phone.Restore contacts - See Backing upand restoring the information onyour phone.Clear contacts - Delete all yourcontacts. Choose between Handsetand SIM and touch Yes if youare sure you want to wipe yourcontacts.TIP! Using Save to Contact onFacebook allows you to see personalinformation and status of Facebookuser including name, contactnumber, email and photo.User is not allowed to edit thoseinformation and can update theinformation by clicking refresh onthe screen.Please refer to Linkbook for moreabout Save to Contact on Facebook.Viewing information1 Touch Contacts in theCOMMUNICATION tab and touchInformation.2 From here you can view yourService dial numbers, your Ownnumber, your Memory info.(showing your memory usage) andMy profile.TIP! MessagingMessagingYour GM360 combines SMS and MMSinto one intuitive and easy-to-usemenu.Sending a message1 Touch Messaging in theCOMMUNICATION tab. And touchNew message to begin composinga new message.2 Touch Insert to add an image,video, sound, template and so on.3 Touch Recipient at the bottom ofthe screen to enter the recipients.Then enter the number or touchto select a contact. You caneven add multiple contacts.4 Touch Send when ready.WARNING: If an image, videoor sound is added to an SMS itwill be automatically converted toan MMS and you will be chargedaccordingly.Entering textThere are five ways to enter text:Keypad, Keyboard, HandwritingScreen, Handwriting-Box,Handwriting-Double Box.24LG GM360 User GuideYou can choose your input method bytappingand Input method.to turn on T9 mode. ThisTouchicon is only shown when you chooseKeypad as the input method.Touchlanguage.to choose the writingTouchto change betweennumbers, symbols and text input.Use Shift key to change betweencapital or lowercase input.T9 modeThe T9 mode uses a built-in dictionaryto recognise the words you’re writingbased on the sequence of keys you’vetouched. It predicts the word you areinputting and suggests alternatives.Handwriting recognitionIn Handwriting mode you simply writeon the screen and your GM360 willconvert your handwriting into yourmessage. Select Handwriting-Screenor Handwriting-Box according toyour preferred view.

Setting up your emailChanging your email settingsTouch E-mail in the COMMUNICATIONtab.If the email account is not set up, startthe email set up wizard and finish it.You can check and edit settings byselecting. Tocheck manually:1 Touch E-mail in theCOMMUNICATION tab.2 Touch the account you want to use.3 Select Inbox4 To receive an E-mail, choose eitherRetrieve or Synchronisation inOption menu.Sending an email using yournew account1 Touch New e-mail and a new emailwill open.2 Complete the message.3 Touch Send and your email willbe sent.25

Youcan make changes to:Text message centre - Enter thedetails of your message centre.Delivery report - Slide the switchleft to receive confirmation that yourmessages have been delivered.Validity period - Choose how longyour messages are stored at themessage centre.Message types - Convert your textinto Text, Voice, Fax, X.400 or E-mail.Character encoding - Choose howyour characters are encoded. Thisimpacts the size of your messages andtherefore data charges.Send long text as - Choose to sendlong messages as Multiple SMS oras an MMS.

Changing your multimediamessage settingsTouch Messaging in theCOMMUNICATION tab. Scroll andchoose Settings and Multimediamessage. You can make changes to:Retrieval mode - Choose betweenHome network or Roaming network.If you then choose Manual you willreceive only notifications of MMSand you can then decide whether todownload them in full.Delivery report - Choose to requestand/or allow delivery reports.Read reply - Choose to request and/orallow read replies.Priority - Choose the priority level ofyour multimedia message.Validity period - Choose how longyour messages are stored at themessage centre.Slide duration - Choose how longyour slides appear on the screen bydefault.Creation mode - Choose to createmultimedia messages freely orrestrictively.Delivery time - Choose how long towait before a message is delivered.Multi msg centre - Choose or add amultimedia message centre.Changing your other settingsTouch Messaging in theCOMMUNICATION tab.
