Curling Canada’sHit Draw TapProgramPage 21. ABOUT HIT, DRAW, TAPAny questions regarding Hit, Draw, Tap should be sent to Lee Smith,lee.smith@curlingalberta or 403 246-9300CurlON launched “Hit, Draw and Tap” in the 2015-2016 season. It was such a successfulprogram that Curling Canada took over the program in 2017 and they are sharing it acrossCanada. “Hit Draw and Tap” is modelled after the NFL’s Punt Kick Pass or Master’s Golf –Drive, Chip, Putt.Hit Draw Tap (HDT) is a youth skills competition where kids age 6-13 compete asindividuals. HDT will group kids into three different age categories (6-8, 9-10 & 11-13), andperform three different shots – a “Hit,” a “Draw” and a “Tap.” The difficulties of the skillsare modified based on the age of the child.Curling clubs across Alberta are encouraged to host an HDT competition as part oftheir Junior Program whenever it best suits them. We anticipate that each club willneed an hour and a half to two hours to complete their competition. All we ask is thatall competition results must be entered into the Curling Canada database by Tuesday,December 31, 2019 at 12:00 pm.All participants will be compared to those in similar age groups from clubs across theprovince on a “Provincial Leaderboard” that can be accessed online by the public at:www.hitdrawtap.ca. On Sunday, January 26, 2020, the top 5 participants (and any ties)from each category will qualify to compete in the Tim Hortons Hit Draw Tap ProvincialChampionship taking place at the 2020 Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts at TheMurray Arena in Okotoks. All those who qualify will be given three tickets to the semi-final game which will takeplace prior to Provincial HDT Championship. Participants are responsible for all travelcosts to get to and from the event. If a Top 5 participant cannot attend the provincials, his/her spot will be forfeited. Whether or not that spot will be filled will be at the discretion ofthe Curling Alberta. If you’re already a curler, bring a friend, they don’t need to be a curler or a member of aclub to compete.Updated October 24, 2019
