Opening StatementTo: Bishop T. Larry Kirkland, Presiding Prelate of the Fifth Episcopal District; Mrs. Mary Kirkland, Episcopal supervisor;Dr. Willie Glover, Connectional Lay President; Connectional Officers; Mr. Simeon Rhoden, President, Fifth EpiscopalDistrict Lay Organization; Fifth District Lay Officers; Presiding Elders; Pastors; Clergy; Delegates; Visitors and FriendsOn behalf of the Pacific Northwest Conference Lay Organization Officers, and Members, I greet you in the Name ofour Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!I am pleased to submit my second President’s report on the Pacific Northwest Conference to the Fifth EpiscopalDistrict Lay Organization, at the 58th Annual Lay Convention.Our Conference Theme: “Life in the Spirit with a Purpose Driven Laity” Romans 8:28. We thank God Currently thereare nine (9) Churches with a Lay Organization as we work with three (3) of our Churches to sustain their LayOrganization.To maintain strong communication with all Lay Presidents and members in our twelve churches was our main goal forthis conference year. Reaching out to one another and share what is happening in the local ,Conference LayOrganization and the A.M.E. Church.With October as the Lay Organization Membership Drive month each Lay Organization received fliers telling the laity“We Need You” join your Church Lay Organization. Held a members’ drawing in November to the Church who hadreceived new members; FAME and Walker AMEC, Seattle tied at the time.

Conference Lay Projects/AccomplishmentsConference Meetings and Conventions: Officers and Members attended Bishop T. Larry Kirkland’s PlanningMeeting, Mid Year Convocation, and The Call To the Wall5. Officers and Members attended Presiding Elder Spencer Barrett,Planning Meeting, District Conference and our plan to attend theQuarterly Conference Cluster meeting scheduled for August 8, 2015. Held PNWC Seventeenth Annual Lay Convention. Host LayOrganization – Primm Tabernacle A.M.E.C. Lay Organization, Seattle,WA. Participated and have taken ownership in the Fifth District LayOrganization Personal Evangelism Project where not only two of ourrequested officers but various members shared their faith experience.

Conference Lay Projects/Accomplishments Held the Annual Lay-Clergy Institute titled “All in the Family and theAfrican-American Methodist denominations in the United States –African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, African MethodistEpiscopal Zion (AMEZ) Church and the Christian Methodist Episcopal(CME) Church. A brief history was provided for each denomination withquestions and answers with their similarities for the members. Held the Richard Allen Legacy Award Luncheon. Honorees were sixlaypersons from the Conference churches. The Lay Christian Arts Festival was held on May 2, 2015. There arethree winners who will travel to the Fifth Episcopal District LayConvention to compete in the District LCAF.
