I am pleased to report that those mighty Tigers havestarted their spring campaign with a well fought out win againstHawthorn. It was a pleasure sitting in the rain to watch Richmondproduce a stunning brand of football to defeat Hawthorn. What has been happening in 2/3SWe have been very busy in 23S! We have been exploring fractions and decimals in numeracy. We havebeen learning about denominations and numerators. Jasmine wrote a fantastic definition of adenominator “a denominator is how many piece it has been cut into to make a whole.”The students showed fantastic enthusiasm during the Book week, coming dressed as many of theirfavourite characters. We have been very lucky to have a special guest within our classroom, we have astudent teacher and her name is Aviva Lindsay. Aviva is in her last year of her Masters of Education atSwinburne University and has brought lots of exciting things to our classroom. She will be in 2/3S until thelast week of term.There was a massive turn out to the Father’s day afternoon tea in 2/3S and the students really enjoyedhaving the opportunity to show their special someone around the classroom and enjoying an afternoonsnack.

Trivia NightSince 2013, students at Mahogany Rise PrimarySchool have been involved in Overseas LearningExperiences. This year Mahogany Rise will be sending 2groups of students on an experience of a lifetime. 1group of students will be visiting Europe and anothergroup are off to India. We ask that you come along toour trivia night for a fun filled night and a greatopportunity to help raise money for these students toattend.When: Saturday 15th SeptemberWhere: Monterey Secondary College L BlockBYO Food and Drink of choice (Tea and Coffee Provided). This is an 18 event. Organise a team of 10 orlet us allocate you to a team. 10 per person. Please see or call Shannon in the office to book a table.Footy Day and Special LunchOn the last day of the school term (Friday 21stSeptember), students can come dressed up in theirfootball team colours. Students will get a yummyfootball themed lunch and are able to support theirfootball team in the MRPS football parade. Parents andcarers are invited to attend the parade.Choir PerformanceThe choir did an amazing job performing at assemblyon Monday. Congratulation to all of the students whogot up in front of the whole school, what an amazingachievement!Father’s Day Afternoon TeaWe had an amazing turn out at the Father’s Day afternoon tea for theJunior and Middle School. As this is astudent led learning experience, students willhave the opportunity to try various creative artforms and learn new skills. This will all cometogether in a performance event on the eveningof Thursday 13th September at 6.00pm atMonterey Secondary College. Staff, parents,family and the wider community will be invitedto watch what the students have created overthe program.
