CollectMost merciful God, who by the death and resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ deliveredand saved the world: grant that by faith in him who suffered on the cross we may triumphin the power of his victory; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive andreigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.A reading from the Book of the Prophet JeremiahJeremiah 31. 31–34The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with thehouse of Israel and the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant that I made withtheir ancestors when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt - acovenant that they broke, though I was their husband, says the Lord. But this is thecovenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I willput my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, andthey shall be my people. No longer shall they teach one another, or say to each other,‘Know the Lord’, for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, saysthe Lord; for I will forgive their iniquity, and remember their sin no more. This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.Psalm 51 (vv1–12)1 Have mercy upon me O God after thy great goodness:according to the multitude of thy mercies do away mine offences.2 Wash me throughly from my wickedness:and cleanse me from my sin.3 For I acknowledge my faults:and my sin is ever before me.4 Against thee only have I sinned and done evil in thy sight:so that thou art just in thy sentence and blameless in thy judgement.5 Behold I was shapen in wickedness:and in sin hath my mother conceived me.6 But lo thou hast laid up truth in the inward man:and hast taught me wisdom in the secret places of the heart,7 Thou shalt purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean:thou shalt wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.8 Thou shalt make me hear of joy and gladness:that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.9 Turn thy face from my sins:and put out all my misdeeds.10 Make me a clean heart O God:and renew a right spirit within me.11 Cast me not away from thy presence:and take not thy holy spirit from me.12 O give me the comfort of thy help again:and strengthen me with a willing spirit.

A reading from the Letter to the HebrewsHebrews 5. 5-10So also Christ did not glorify himself in becoming a high priest, but was appointed by theone who said to him, ‘You are my Son, today I have begotten you’; as he says also inanother place, ‘You are a priest for ever, according to the order of Melchizedek.’In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries andtears, to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of hisreverent submission. Although he was a Son, he learned obedience through what hesuffered; and having been made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for allwho obey him, having been designated by God a high priest according to the order ofMelchizedek. This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.Listen to the Gospel of Christ according to Saint John.John 12. 20-33Glory to you, O Lord. 5.15pm (sung)Thursday10.00am Yr Offeren11.00am5.15pm (sung)Friday9.30am5.15pm (sung)SaturdayOscar Romero9.30am5.15pm (said)WEEKLY PRAYER INTENTIONSSunday :Hong Kong Sheng Kung HuiParish of Rhondda Fach Uchaf: The Rev’d David JonesMonday :Brechin (Scotland)Parish of Tonyrefail with Gilfach Goch:The Rev’d Canon Ruth MoverleyTuesday:Brisbane (Queensland, Australia)Archdeaconry of Llandaff: The Ven Peggy JacksonWednesday:Bristol (Canterbury, England)The Governing Body of the Church in Walesand those who represent this dioceseThursday:British Columbia (British Columbia & the Yukon, Canada)Deanery of Cardiff: The Rev’d Canon Stewart LiskFriday:Buhiga (Burundi)Parish of Cardiff Dewi Sant: The Rev’d Dyfrig LloydSaturday:Bujumbura (Burundi)Parish of St German with St Saviour: The Rev’d Phelim O’Hare

Llandaff Cathedral Social Committee.Christian Aid Week, May 13-19: In 2017 the Cathedral community raised over 12,000in Christian Aid Week – and nearly 8,000 came from the house-to-house collection. Ifwe could do this again, we could improve the lives of over 1,000 displaced people whohave no homes following natural disasters in Haiti, and who do not expect to survive thenext (inevitable) disaster. But we can’t do it without collectors! Each year there are a fewof last year’s who can’t manage it and for whom we need replacements. It really doesn’ttake long: 3 hours should cover envelope delivery and a couple of collecting rounds for20 houses – and it can be done during the day or in the light evenings, so people out atwork during the day can participate. We will supply everything you need for the collection;all you need to supply is your willingness to help. Just three hours in May to transform athousand lives! If you can help, please sign the list on the table at the back of theCathedral, or contact any of the Christian Aid team (details on the display board). Thankyou so much. Sue Smith (029 2056 9234 or dlsmsmith@msn.com).Christian Aid and the Oxfam Scandal: The behaviour of a small number of people inthe aid sector is likely to affect responses to the house-to-house collection in CA Week.It may be helpful for collectors to have a "line to take" if questions are raised on thedoorstep, and this will be included in the Pack which collectors will receive in April. Fulldetails of CA's policies and actions are readily available on the CA website(www.christianaid.org.uk). It is very reassuring to know of CA's robust stand on all ofthis, a summary of which is displayed on the CA table at the back of the Cathedral.
