Updated: 06/25/2020From the Office of the President of the Consistory:Parishes of the Church Begin the Process of Re-OpeningВід Голови Консисторії: Парафії Церкви Розпочинають Процес ВідкриттяХрамівBeloved brethren in the Lord: CHRIST IS AMONG US!I write today to share some measure of prayerful hope during this difficult time ofpandemic and social distancing. In recent weeks, we have watched with relief as various

State Governments gradually opened community services of select businesses andactivities, with prudent precautions firmly in place to prevent a severe “second wave” ofthe coronavirus pandemic. In keeping with this gradual reopening of our society, it isnecessary that we make similar arrangements within our Ukrainian Orthodox Church ofthe USA to allow once again for the communal celebration of Sacred Liturgical Services, which are the most “essential” activity known to our world. In the Pastoral Letter of the Council of Bishops of the UOC of the USA, issued on 20May, 2020, the blessing has been given to the clergy and parishes of the Church toinitiate preparation steps towards reopening of our parish communities. Each parishis MANDATED to submit to the Council of Bishops a detailed plan for reopening, andhaving held a ZOOM conference with the hierarchs, a blessing will be given for theopening of each parish individually. The liturgical services that you will attend in ourparish communities in the weeks ahead will look and feel quite different from theservices you remember from two months ago. It will be imperative for all of us – pastors, parish staff, volunteers, and all the faithful – to work together during these times. Thepandemic is not over, and safety precautions must be followed in order to promote thecontinued health and safety of everyone in our community.Through it all, we must remember that this virus does not discriminate betweengatherings; a group gathered for sacred worship is not immune by the merits of itsgathering. It is only through our careful observance of these precautions that we make itpossible to resume public liturgical services. When this pandemic began, bothMetropolitan Antony and I have directed priests of our Church to suspend all publicliturgical services as we assessed the situation and explored a safe way to bring Christ tothe people, both through the Word of God and the Holy Masteries. This was anunfortunate but necessary decision in light of the severity of the pandemic and thenumber of unknowns associated with this new and deadly virus. Know that we haveprayed during this time for you, the faithful of the Holy Ukrainian Orthodox Church ofthe USA, especially during our private and livestreamed services. I pray you have felt theloving comfort of Christ as you awaited the day you could return to celebration of theMost Holy Eucharist in our parish communities. And I rejoice with you and thank Godtoday as we move toward the gradual reopening of our parish communities. The following parishes of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA have completed, submitted for review and received a blessing of the Council of Bishops to resumeliturgical services in the local parishes of the Church (please, check with the parishpastors for the exact date of re-opening): Protection of the Birth-Giver of God Cathedral, Allentown, PASt. Vladimir Parish, Ambridge, PASt. Katherine Parish, Arden Hills, MNProtection of the Birth-Giver of God Parish, Arnold, PAFour Evangelists Parish, Bel Air, MDHoly Trinity Parish, Bensenville, ILSt. Andrew Parish, Blakely, PAProtection of the Birth-Giver of God Parish, Bridgeport, CT

28 June 20203rd Sunday after PentecostAfter the Little Entrance:Troparion of the Resurrection – Tone 2: When Thou didst submit Thyself unto death, OThou deathless and immortal One, then Thou didst destroy hell with Thy Godly power. And when Thou didst raise the dead from beneath the earth, all the powers of Heaven didcry aloud unto Thee: O Christ, Thou giver of life, glory to Thee.Prokeimenon: The Lord is my strength and my song The Lord has chastened me sorely

EPISTLE: The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Romans (Chapter 5:1-10)BRETHREN, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our LordJesus Christ. Through him we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand, andwe rejoice in our hope of sharing the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in oursufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance producescharacter, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God'slove has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us.While we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. Why, one willhardly die for a righteous man--though perhaps for a good man one will dare even to die.But God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we are now justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him fromthe wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the deathof his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. Notonly so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom wehave now received our reconciliation.THE HOLY GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ST. MATTHEW (Chapter 6:22-33)The Lord said: "The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is sound, your wholebody will be full of light; but if your eye is not sound, your whole body will be full ofdarkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! "No one canserve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devotedto the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. "Therefore I tellyou, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, norabout your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body morethan clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather intobarns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his span of life? And why areyou anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neithertoil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one ofthese. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow isthrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O men of little faith? Thereforedo not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or "What shall we drink?' or "What shallwe wear?" For the Gentiles seek all these things; and your heavenly Father knows thatyou need them all. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these thingsshall be yours as well.
