BackgroundThe Sweetest Heart of Mary Catholic churchwas built in 1893. In 2004 T‐Mobile installed theirequipment in the south steeple of the church.Antennas are mounted in the open window bays onthe fifth floor of the south steeple. The auxiliary T‐Mobile telecom equipment are housed on the thirdfloor of the south steeple.Over time water seeped inside bothsteeples. Water entered the fifth, fourth, and thirdsfloors of the south steeple. The water has affectedT‐Mobile’s equipment and operations. As the parishbegan structural repairs to both steeples, T‐Mobileand the church agreed to move the auxiliaryequipment from the third to second floor of thesouth steeple. (The second floor of the steeple didnot suffer any water damage.) The followingoutlines design requirements necessary to relocateT‐Mobile’s equipment.Design Requirement Outline Structural Design – Provide structuralsupport for new equipment on secondfloor.HVAC – Air exhaust and Intake to maintainproper air flow and temperature controlfor equipmentElectric – Provide electric service to T‐Mobile equipmentFiber Optic – Provide fiber optic service toT‐Mobile equipmentSound Level – Install low noise AirScaleequipment so not to disturb thecongregation.Grounding – Ground new equipment.

Structural DesignProvide structural support for new equipmenton second floor. Bolt steel beams into masonry walls ofsteeple to suspend galvanized steelplatform over wood flooring.o Lower window on the 2nd floor steepleroom to be removed temporarily.o Beams to be hoisted into 2nd floorroom through lower window on southwall of steeple (right)o W10 beam required to penetrate non‐load bearing closet wall (see“PROPOSED EQUIPMENT ROOM”sheet 2 of 2 from site sketch) to tieinto structural wall.o Organ air pump & ductwork will not beaffected with installation. Platform hasbeen designed around air pump.Note: lower windowpane replacement to bediscussed under HVAC.HVACAir exhaust and intake to maintain proper air flow andtemperature control for equipment Replace lower windowpane with intake and exhaustlouvers.o Upper Windows are stained glass and are not to betouched or affected by the relocation. (see left)o Lower Window (to be replaced) has opaque glass (seeleft).o From the street outside the window appears milkywhite against a light beige stone (below)

HVAC (cont.)oooooNormally there are no lights turned on in the proposed equipment room. No light currentlyemits through the upper or lower windows outside.New ductwork to be installed overhead andsuspended from overhead ceiling with Unistrut andhanging spring isoloators.Lower window glass to be replaced with (2) 13”x22”intake and exhaust louvers. Louver color to matchbeige stonework (Greenheck manufacturer, color:sierra tan/ color code: GF118.)Proposed louver color match building color/stylebetter than existing louver in the same windowsymmetrical to the proposed window exhaust on thenorth steeple (right) and above the North facing RoseWindow (below).Exhaust fan rated at 6.4 Sones (approx. 55 dB)

ElectricProvide electric service to T‐Mobile equipment Existing 200A service on 3rd floor to be relocated to 2ndfloor, including: 200A Tap Box & 50 KVA stepdowntransformer (right). Existing disconnect and meter toremain. Existing Power from disconnect runs up access(ladder) room from 2nd to 3rd floor. Power to bererouted through existing conduit to 2nd floor room. Allutility equipment to be installed in existing closet.Fiber OpticProvide fiber optic service to T‐Mobile equipment Existing Ciena Fiber demarcation box to be relocatedwith Electric equipment in closet of 2nd floor. Fiber tofollow similar path with power conduit rerouted from3rd floor to 2nd floor.Sound LevelInstall low noise AirScale equipment so not to disturb the congregation. All new T‐Mobile equipment to be installed shall be 5G AirScale equipment (or newer) fromNokia. Nokia equipment to be installed on Equipment FIF racks. Due to the organ air intakelocated in the new equipment room, all equipment is rated at or below 65 dB.Grounding All Equipment shall be grounded to a master ground bar on the 2nd floor. The master ground barshall be grounded to the existing building ground on the 3rd floor following the conduit chase upin the 3RD floor access (ladder) room.
