Located in Kaohshiung, on the southernpart of Taiwan, it is the only university in the country dedicated tolanguages as well as the third accredited Catholic university on theisland after Fu-Jen Catholic University in northern Taipei andProvidence University in central Taichung.According to a report by Ucanews, during the official opening inKaohsiung city at the end ofJuly, Wenzao Language College’s new president ProfessorLucia Lin pledged to improveacademic quality and to establish closer ties with Catholicuniversities overseas. On hispart, city mayor Chen Chupraised the role of the academicinstitution in promoting international exchanges in Kaohsiung.Established by the sisters ofthe Roman Union of the Orderof St. Ursula in 1966, it wasnamed after Wenzao Lo, thefirst Chinese bishop (16161691).
