The fire is spreading rapidly. Only use a fire extinguisher when the fire is in its early stages You don't know what is burning. Unless you know what is burning, you won't know what type of fire extinguisher to use. You don't have the proper fire extinguisher

The successful use of a fire extinguisher depends on the following conditions: The extinguisher must be easily accessible and in good working order. The extinguisher must be the right type for the fire. The fire must be discovered in its incipient stage for the extinguisher to be effective. Extinguishing Fire

How to Use a Portable Fire Extinguisher Remember the acronym, "P .A . .SS ." P Pull the Pin . A Aim extinguisher nozzle at the base of the flames . S Squeeze the trigger while holding the extinguisher upright . S Sweep the extinguisher from side to side, covering the affected area with the extinguisher agent . Remember:

ALWAYS keep a properly maintained and inspected fire extinguisher on hand. Epilog recommends a Halotron fire extinguisher or a multi-purpose dry chemical fire extinguisher. The Halotron extinguishers are more expensive than a dry chemical, but offer certain advantages should you ever need to use an extinguisher.
