1THE MONTH OFMAY2018PASTOR’S ARTICLEPastor Francis L. SchroederHoly Cross Lutheran—NederlandPASTOR’SPROJECTS“THE CHALLENGE OF THE STAIRCASE”9:00 AMSUNDAY ADULTCLASSESThe video starts with a puppy at the top of the stairs afraid togo down. Despite much encouragement from people cheeringat the bottom, Daisy can’t figure it out. She wants so badly tojoin them, but fear keeps her pacing the landing.9:30 AM ON TUESDAYEARLY CHILDHOODCHAPEL SERVICE8th GRADECONFIRMATIONSUNDAYMAY 6thCIRCUITPROFESSIONALSCONFERENCEMAY 8th@ ST. JOHN —BEAUMONTEARLY CHILDHOODEDUCATIONGRADUATIONMAY 15th & 16thMEMORIAL DAYMONDAY, MAY 28thThen a bigger dog comes to help. Simon runs up the steps andthen backs down, showing Daisy how easy it is. Daisy is stillnot convinced. Simon tries again. This time more slowly. Thenhe watches Daisy try again. Daisy is still too scared. Onceagain Simon goes to the top and demonstrates the technique. Finally Daisy dares to let her back legs follow the front ones.Simons stays beside her. She makes it and everyone celebrates! What an incredible picture of discipleship. We spend much ofour time trying to teach others to climb up, but the moreimportant, and more difficult, thing to learn is how “to godown.”Throughout Scripture we read that God expects humility of us.On numerous occasions, God demonstrated humility bycoming down. Finally God sent His Son, Jesus, who spent Hislife teaching the technique we are to follow.Blessed May to you my friends!Pastor Francis L. Schroeder
