Welcome to Lawrence Adult Education!A Message from the Director:Greetings Lifelong Learners:Lawrence Adult Education was established in 1976 with the goal of embracing and encouraging the concept of “lifelong learning.” Wikipedia has a great definition of lifelong learning;“The “ongoing, voluntary, and self-motivated” pursuit of knowledge for either personal orprofessional reasons. It not only enhances social inclusion, active citizenship, and personaldevelopment, but also self-sustainability, rather than competitiveness and employability.”Our lifelong learning programs include the highly successful Maine College TransitionsProgram founded in 2006. The Maine College Transitions Program is Lawrence Adult Education’s and KVCC’s program for adults who are interested in entering and succeeding incollege. Among Lawrence Adult Education’s offerings are affordable, academic completionclasses, non-credit single workshops, Ed2Go and UGotClass on-line courses, day trips, computer classes, life enrichment classes, and other special events.
