The Code Casesclarify the existing requirements or provide, when the need is urgent, rules for materials orconstructions not covered by existing BPVCrules.ASME BPVC.I, Section I—Rules forConstruction of Power BoilersThis section provides requirements for allmethods of construction of power, electric, andminiature boilers; high temperature waterboilers, heat recovery steam generators, andcertain fired pressure vessels to be used instationary service; and power boilers used inlocomotive, portable, and traction service. Rulespertaining to use of the V, A, M, PP, S and EASME Product Certification Marks are alsoincluded. The rules are applicable to boilers inwhich steam or other vapor is generated at apressures exceeding 15 psig, and hightemperature water boilers intended for operationat pressures exceeding 160 psig and/ortemperatures exceeding 250 degree F. Superheaters, economizers, and other pressure partsconnected directly to the boiler withoutintervening valves are considered as part of thescope of Section I.ASME BPVC.II.A, Section II—Materials,Part A—Ferrous Material Specifications(beginning to SA–450)This section is a ‘‘service section’’ to the otherBPVC sections, providing material specificationsfor ferrous materials adequate for safety in thefield of pressure equipment. Thesespecifications contain requirements for chemicaland mechanical properties, heat treatment, manufacture, heat and product analyses, andmethods of testing. They are designated by SAnumbers and are identical with or similar tothose of specifications published by ASTMInternational and other recognized national orASME BPVC.II.A, Section II—Materials, PartA—Ferrous Material Specifications (SA–451to end)This section is a ‘‘service section’’ to the otherBPVC sections providing material specificationsfor ferrous materials adequate for safety in thefield of pressure equipment.
