INTRODUCTION Doctor of Engineering program (DEng)is a PhD degree program developed,delivered and quality assured by UPM. The program emphasizes both onindustrial needs and the academicrequirements.4

BENEFITS To provide a platform for professionals from industry to solve industrialproblems and simultaneously obtain a PhD degree. CURICULUM STRUCTURE The DEng is a mixed mode research- based program. Each student is required to take minimum 24 credit hours of coursesand 60 credit hours of research project. Student is also required to prepare a high quality thesis based onfindings/results of which provide solutions to industrial problems. DURATION ANDMETHOD OF STUDY13

DURATION AND METHOD OF STUDY Minimum of 2½ years (5 semesters), maximum of 5 years (10 semesters).UPM offers programs only in full time mode.Courses are conducted through lectures, seminar, and presentation.Lectures will be held either after office hour or weekend or in modular mode.Research project will be carried out as follows; Student is required to submit a project proposal based on industrial problem and mustbe approved by both UPM and industry. The research must be carried out at company site/designated premise and not atUPM. Project supervision involves supervisors from faculty and industry. UPM Supervisormust also supervise the student at his workplace and this will require the supervisor tovisit the student regularly. The industry must have suitable staff who are deemed eligible by UPM to supervisethe student The industry must provide adequate research facilities for the student to conductresearch effectively.14
