IntroductionThe Oil and Gas Division regulates the drilling and production of oil andgas in North Dakota. What is NorthSTAR?NorthSTAR - North Dakota StatewideTracking And Reporting System is thebranding of the Ground Water ProtectionCouncil’s well management system – RiskBased Data Management System (RBDMS)Sponsored by the US Department of EnergyNorthSTAR will used by North Dakotaoperators and regulators. It is a cloud basedapplication designed to help manageinformation by streamlining operations,simplifying processes, providing a betterway for Operators and Division tocollaborate, collect and analyze data.6

Project Purpose and Objectives Purpose To upgrade the agency’s legacyinformation management system. It willinclude several resource savingcomponents including electronic formacceptance to save manual data entry. Objectives Improve reporting Improve processes Allow for electronic form submission Allow for more data gathering andanalysis7
