Install a SIM card andmemory card3. Slide the SIM card/Memory card tray back intothe slot.When you subscribe to a cellular network, you areprovided with a SIM card. You may be able to useyour previous SIM card. You can install an optional microSD memory card(not included) to add more memory space to yourdevice. A memory card can be installed at any time.It is not necessary to install it prior to using thedevice.Caution: Be careful when using the removal tool toeject an internal card tray.1. Turn the tray over and place the SIM card in thebottom of the tray.2. Turn the tray over and place the memory card onthe top of the tray with gold contacts facingdown.Getting started6

Charge the battery3. Unplug the charging head from the outlet andremove the USB cable from the device whencharging is complete.Your device is powered by a rechargeable battery.A charger (charging head and USB Type-C cable) isincluded with the device for charging the batteryfrom any standard outlet.While charging, the device and the charger maybecome hot and stop charging. This usually does notaffect the device’s lifespan or performance and is inthe device’s normal range of operation.The battery comes partially charged. You can use thedevice while charging.Disconnect the charger from the device and wait forthe device to cool down. For more information, e: Use only charging devices and batteries thatare approved by Samsung. Samsung charging devicesand batteries are designed for your device tomaximize battery life. Using other charging devicesand batteries may void your warranty and may causedamage.1. Insert the USB Type-C cable into the USBcharger/Accessory port.2. Connect the USB cable to the charging head, andthen plug the charging head into a standardoutlet.Getting started7

Start using your deviceUse the Setup WizardThe instructions below explain how to turn yourdevice on or off.The first time you turn your device on, the SetupWizard guides you through the basics of setting upyour device.To turn the device on:uFollow the prompts to choose a default language, connect to a Wi-Fi network, set up accounts, chooselocation services, learn about your device’s features,and more.Press and hold the Power key until the deviceturns on.To turn the device off:1. Press and hold the Power key.2. Tap Power off, and confirm when prompted.Getting started8

Lock or unlock your deviceAdd a Google accountUse your device’s screen lock features to secure yourdevice. By default, the device locks automaticallywhen the screen times out.Your new device uses your Google account to fully utilize its Android features. 1. FromTo lock the device:uPress the Power key.2. TapTo unlock the device:uAdd account Google.Note: When you sign in to a Google account, FactoryReset Protection (FRP) is activated. FRP requires yourGoogle account information when resetting tofactory settings. For more information, see Factoryreset protection on page 136.Press the Power key, and then drag your fingeracross the screen.The default Screen lock on your device is Swipe.To choose a secure screen lock, see Set a securescreen lock on page 138.Getting startedSettings, tap Cloud and accounts Accounts.9

S PenReplace the S Pen tipThe S Pen is a stylus that assists you in performingvarious functions. For more information, see S Penfunctions on page 25.1. Use tweezers to pull out the S Pen tip.You can replace the tip of the S Pen with theincluded kit.2. Insert the new pen tip and press until it clicks inplace.S Pen buttonNote: The device must be turned on for the S Pen tobe placed here. Customize yourHome screen To change the order of screens, touch and holda screen, and then drag it to a new position. To add a screen, swipe to the end of theYour device has multiple Home screens to hold appshortcuts and widgets.
