EV mode is unavailablewhen the vehicle is out of fuel. For more information on Auto Stop,Auto Start, and EV Mode, seeStarting the Vehicle on page 9‑2.Regenerative BrakingRegenerative braking enables theelectric drive motor to operate as agenerator when coasting or braking.Energy from the moving vehiclerecharges the hybrid battery. The hydraulic disc brakes work withthe regenerative braking to ensureeffective braking. The braking system is computercontrolled and blends theregenerative braking with theconventional hydraulic disc brakesto meet any requirements fordeceleration. Because the controllerapplies the hydraulic brakes throughits high pressure accumulator, youmay occasionally hear the motordriven pump when it recharges thesystem. This is normal. In the eventof a controller problem, the brakepedal may be harder to push andthe stopping distance may belonger.See Regenerative Braking onpage 9‑14.BatteryThis vehicle has a standard 12-voltbattery and a high voltage hybridbattery. When a new standard12-volt battery is needed, see yourdealer for one that has thereplacement number shown on theoriginal battery's label. Chevrolet/GMC Tahoe/Yukon/Yukon Denali Hybrid - 2013 - CRC - 4/9/125-6Black plate (6,1)Instruments and ControlsEngine Oil PressureGaugeWhen the engine is running, readings in the low pressure zonemay be caused by a dangerouslylow oil level or some other problemcausing low oil pressure.EnglishMetricThe oil pressure gauge shows theengine oil pressure in psi (poundsper square inch) when the engine isrunning. Canadian vehicles indicatepressure in kPa (kilopascals). Theoil pressure gauge will read zerowhen operating in the AUTOSTOP mode.Oil pressure should be 200 to550 kPa (29 to 80 psi). In certainsituations, such as long extendedidles on hot days, it could read aslow as 105 kPa (15 psi) and still beconsidered normal.Notice: Lack of proper engine oilmaintenance can damage theengine. Driving with the engineoil low can also damage theengine. The repairs would not becovered by the vehicle warranty.Check the oil level as soon aspossible. Add oil if required, butif the oil level is within theoperating range and the oilpressure is still low, have thevehicle serviced. Always followthe maintenance schedule forchanging engine oil.

Chevrolet/GMC Tahoe/Yukon/Yukon Denali Hybrid - 2013 - CRC - 4/9/12Black plate (7,1)Instruments and ControlsAUTO STOPWhen the engine goes into AUTOSTOP mode, the oil pressure gaugedrops to zero. See DriverInformation Center (DIC) onpage 5‑11 for more information.EnglishMetricThis gauge shows the enginecoolant temperature. It also provides an indicator of howhard the vehicle is working. During amajority of the operation, the gaugereads 100 C (210 F) or less. If aload is being pulled or going uphills, it is normal for the temperatureto fluctuate and go over the 113 C(235 F) mark. However, if the gaugereaches the 125 C (260 F) mark, itindicates that the cooling system isworking beyond its capacity.
