February 2021Biodiesel Highlights for December 2020Production – U.S. production of biodiesel was 159 million gallons in December 2020. Biodieselproduction during December 2020 was 8 million gallons higher than production inNovember 2020. Biodiesel production from the Midwest region (Petroleum Administration forDefense District 2) accounted for 72 percent of the United States total. Production came from 85biodiesel plants with capacity of 2.5 billion gallons per year.Sales – Producer sales of biodiesel during December 2020 included 74 million gallons sold aspure B100 (100% biodiesel) and an additional 73 million gallons sold as biodiesel blends(contains both pure biodiesel and petroleum diesel fuel).Feedstocks – There were a total of 1,176 million pounds of feedstocks used to producebiodiesel in December 2020. Soybean oil remained the largest biodiesel feedstock duringDecember 2020 with 744 million pounds consumed.U.S. Energy Information Administration Monthly Biodiesel Production Report

Life cycle environmental impacts Life cycle environmental impacts of biodiesel production from seven categories of feedstocks were calculated (Table 1). In order to produce 0.2 million tonnes of biodiesel, biodiesel production consumed about 214-268 thousand tonnes of fruits and about 204-234 thousand tonnes of biomass oil from life cycle .

Also called methyl alcohol, used to make methoxide in biodiesel production. Methoxide an organic salt, in pure form a white powder. In biodiesel production, "methoxide" is a product of

2) Biodiesel will clean your injectors and fuel lines. If you have an old diesel vehicle, there's a chance that your first few tanks of biodiesel could free up all the accumulated crud and clog your fuel filter. 3) It has a higher gel point. B100 (100% biodiesel) gets slushy a little under 32 F.
