CROUSE, SecretaryAN ACTTo repeal section 488.012, RSMo, and to enact in lieu thereof one new section relating to courtcosts.Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:1Section A.Section 488.012, RSMo, is repealed and one new2section enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as section 488.012,3to read as follows:1488.012.1.Beginning July 1, 1997, the clerk of each2court of this state responsible for collecting court costs3shall collect the court costs authorized by statute, in such4amounts as are authorized by supreme court rule adopted5pursuant to sections 488.010 to 488.020.6and payable prior to July 1, 1997, shall not be affected by7the adoption of this rule.892.Court costs dueThe supreme court shall set the amount of courtcosts authorized by statute, at levels to produce revenue10which shall not substantially exceed the total of the11proportion of the costs associated with administration of12the judicial system defrayed by fees, miscellaneous charges13and surcharges.141516173.Prior to adjustment by the supreme court, thefollowing fees, costs and charges shall be collected:(1)Five dollars for the filing of a lien, pursuant tosection 429.090;EXPLANATION-Matter enclosed in bold-faced brackets [thus] in this bill is not enactedand is intended to be omitted in the law.
